Back-to-School Giveaway: FreeAgent Go External Hard Drive

August 20, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

FreeAgent Go Portable Hard Drive

Tune in all week for hot Back-To-School Giveaways. We’ve got some great prizes for the kids, with a couple of special prizes to pamper mom!!! Look for a new 48-hour giveaway each morning and each afternoon, and be sure to check out all of the current giveaways for other great prizes!

In today’s technology-driven world, the importance of backing up data can’t be understated. Whether you keep important documents or priceless photos on your hard drive, you run the risk of losing it all without proper backups.

The Seagate FreeAgent Go portable hard drive is a great solution for securing your data, especially if your family has more than one computer.

The FreeAgent Go will makes it easy to backup your entire computer and then some. Seagate sent me one of these little contraptions to try out for myself, and seriously, it’s so simple that even my 5 year old could set it up. I just plugged it into the USB port, and the installation process started up automatically.

Features that I love (besides the cool red and chrome colors):

  • Automated scheduled backups – one less thing I have to remember is always fine by me!
  • Syncs folders between computers – I often switch between my laptop and netbook, so this will be a huge timesaver.
  • Docking station – makes keeping it connected to your main computer easy, but it’s also easy to hook up to another computer!
  • Password protection of the drive – no worries about curious little people erasing my backed up files!

With 500GB of memory, this external hard drive should have plenty of space to backup my photos, documents, and iTunes music collection safely for many years to come.

One lucky Deal Seeking Mom reader will win a FreeAgent Go 500GB portable hard drive!

To enter, tell me what information you need to backup on your computer. Do you have hundreds of pictures of your kids? Important financial documents? Business records?

+++++++++++++++

Every reader has four methods available to enter this contest. Choose one each of any combination of method one, two, three, or four for up to a total of 4 entries!!!

What a great prize! As I can attest, backups are very important – I just discovered I accidentally deleted an entire folder of stuff in the last couple of days – got some back but not all :(

Awesome giveaway! We currently have *most* of the pictures of our 2 daughters backed up, but we do NOT back them up often enough. And our back-up isn’t 100% reliable (it was used when we got it), so I’m nervous about our back-up failing!

We definetly back-up our pictures. My sister lost all of her baby pictures of her first born due to a lightening strike. Since then I have back-up. Just until recently we have been using DVD’s.

I back up my stuff on a flashdrive. An external hard drive would be much more secure for all my photos.

I have a eight month old daughter and I do not have back up. I would be crused if I lost her pictures. Sometimes I think old school film was better, because I actually got pictures developed then.

I am very possessive about my baby’s pictures. I have tons of them and i regularly back them up on DVDs besides keeping another copy on my husband’s and mine laptops

I backup my photos by CD (“old school”), but not my videos because they took up too much memory to save to CD. A few months ago, my motherboard crashed (when my son was 15 mos. old) and I lost ALL of my videos of my son from the time he was born until he was 15 mos. old! I have cried a number of times about this over the last few months!! An external hard drive would be a much better way to save my memories.

We have a few pics backed up, but I would be completely devastated if our computer crashed. It’s making me nervous just thinking about it!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
