Because I’m an advil coupon shopper, I only buy detergent when it’s $2 or less. I also have separate baskets for my colors and whites to make laundry easier.

Well, having 5 kids as well, I know the feeling of the revolving laundry room door…
I try to get my kids involved in helping, We try to make it fun and give them rewards for helping.
The littlest one (5yrs) loves to fold towels, I assume because they are square and easy. The two middle kids I will get one to get the clothes from the dryer and the other to put them into the dryer and start it. Not only are they helping me, but they are learning at the same time, they will have to do this themselves one day. The two older kids will do laundry if I pay them and they do most of their own laundry. Really cuts down on my time spent there.
Working full time I dont have alot of time to spend at home, so anything we can do to spend time together, even if its laundry, really is helpful.
OH and like already mentioned, I am brand loyal when it comes to my laundry soap and fabric softener(allergies), so I stock up whenever coupons come around, will even get extras from ebay.

I hang my clothes on the line. It saves the world and my dryer bill.

I always buy extra detergent when there are sales and I have coupons. I can usually get some good deals using double coupons at my grocery store, too.
Amy
I try to buy detergent only when it’s on sale and I have a coupon. I also hang many of my clothes to dry. It keeps them lasting longer!
Kate
In order to cut my laundry bill, I usually make my own detergent. HOWEVER, when I can find cheap detergent at the store I stock up. I love the scent that you get from the bottle :)!!

since we have to use a laundromat, four washers work faster than one :)

I combine coupons and sales to get cheap detergent, plus I get my kids to help out, even though they’re only 5 and 2. They help take the laundry downstairs, then help fold it and put away their own clothes.

I have found that if I put a load in the washer at night in cold water and with the soap and let it soak over night most of the stains come out without stain remover.

I cut my dryer sheets in half. For the liquid fabric softener I have an extra empty bottle and fill half with softener & water and it lasts me twice as long. I buy when things are on sale and with coupons only.

I wait until there is a bogo deal for detergent, and then find a bogo coupon, like CVS did some time back!
To save time, I got rid of all the clothes hampers- I just put dirty clothes directly into the washing machine- so when it is full, I run a load!

OMG! It seems like laundry is all I do! My favorite laundry tips are…
1. I use peroxide for natural based stains and alcohol for oil/grease based ones. A little on a q-tip works well. Don’t try it on delicate fabrics though.
2. Heay items like blankets, jeans, jackets, etc. I wash as the first loads and hang them to dry while I finish other loads. Then when the other stuff is finished I throw the heavy stuff in the dryer. That way it gets that soft feeling and nice smell from the dryer but it doesn’t take as long to dry because it’s partially dry already. Saving money, energy and wear and tear on your fabrics!

Saving money is easy – use half the recommended amount of detergent, use cold water, and tear dryer sheets in half.

I use inexpensive mesh bags to wash my kids socks and undies. This way, when the clothes are done drying, I have all the socks and undies in one place and they can easily be folded and put away.

I buy expensive detergent instead of store brand…I just have not found a store brand quite as thick as Tide or Gain. So I buy a huge bottle of it and I end up using less. It lasts me a good 4-5 weeks for a big bottle of it, and I do laundry everyday and have 2 babies.

To make it less of a burden on me, I don’t let the laundry pile up too much. When it gets too piled up, then I have to do several loads one after the other. To save money, I use one of the laundry balls so that I don;t have to use that much detergent. When I do buy detergent, I get them when they are on sale, use coupons and get a detergent that is concentrated.

I use half of a dryer sheet, and don’t feel the cup all the way with detergent, the lines on the cup for a load are sometimes not even half of the full cup! I also buy laundry cleaning items from wholesale or during really good sales to help save money.

We sort and wash clothes by the person they belong too. It makes folding and putting away much easier. Also, the older kids can wash, dry, and put away their own loads. This is a necessity with a big family.

I try to do most of the laundry, at least the clothes, on the same day. That way I don’t have to worry about it for a whole week, unless there are some emergencies.
Thanks!
