I try to fold my clothes piece-by-piece as I take them out of the dryer. This has helped me avoid the dreaded “baskets of unfolded laundry” issue.

I have 9 month old twins and I do laundry everyday! I’ve read that people wash in hot water to help get stains out but I have found hot water sets in stains, so I only use cold now – plus it saves on energy costs!

It is worth the money to get large front folding machines!! I was leary at first, but mine can dry a load in almost the same time (5 – 10 minutes longer) it takes to wash a load. No more waiting 30 minutes for the dryer to finish!

for tough stains that are hard to get out I like to use Totally Toddler! it gets out even the toughest baby stains and works well on my clothes too.
To save a little money on laundry soap I make my own. it ends up costing me 1 penny per load. and it works great!

I fold my laundry as I’m taking it out of the dryer. Helps tremendously!

I do a minimum of one load every day, without fail. I have three boys and a hubby = lots of laundry!

My favorite laundry trick is how to get grease out of clothes. I mean oil from cooking or kids bicycling, any type of oil stain – even the ones you found AFTER you took it out of the dryer:
1) lay on washer
2) cover stain with WD-40 – Yes, I know – more oil?
3) let sit for 5-10 minutes
4) Cover entire “new” stain with dishwashing soap – don’t forget to cover any new stain that has seeped through to the other side of the garment
5) Let the soap soak in for 5-10 minutes.
6) Wash as normal. Dry. If stain is still existant or has moved (due to not covering all the WD-40) then do it all over again.
The WD-40 makes the other oil coagulate together. Like oil in water. Then the soap lifts the entire stain to the surface. It works every time – at least for me. :)

To save time drying, I shake out the clothes as I pull them from the washer!

Keeping the loads manageable and done so I don’t get buried by huge piles of dirty clothes. Washing in cold water also helps.

I could use all the help I could get… but I am very excited that my 7 year old son now *asks* to do his laundry all by himself! That’s a time saver… for me, anyway!

I like to put in a laundry load before going to bed at night, since we have a front-loading washer that takes over an hour to complete a wash cycle. It saves water & energy, but it can take a long time to get through several loads during the day. This way I’m not waiting for it to finish & I just throw it in the dryer the next morning. I also try to put in a load before leaving the house to run errands, etc.

I do most of the laundry on a schedule (Blame my grandmother for this). For example I change sheets on Saturday morning and wash them right away along with towels and other similar items. Doing other stuff in the waiting time.
Kat
I never win anything, but am completely optimistic that I will someday win.
My laundry tip . . . my husband does his own laundry. Huge time saver for me!
