Looking for more ways to stretch that back-to-school budget? If so, T.J. Maxx and Marshall’s may just be the way to go. Two lucky Deal Seeking Mom readers will each win a $25 gift card – one to T.J. Maxx and one to Marshall’s – to help you dress your kids as they head back to school.

To enter, tell me your best tip for getting more out of your kids’ back-to-school wardrobes. Do you layer summer tank tops to get more wear? Do you throw capris under summer skirts to take them into fall?

As a teacher, I’m pretty hard on my own clothes but do try to designate work clothes and play clothes so my nice work clothes last longer. When my work clothes get snagged or worn, I cover up spots with iron-on patches. It’s almost like getting a new piece of clothing!

I shop the clearance racks year round. If I buy something out of season then I just put it away until he needs it & I make sure to buy it big enough so that it will fit in a few months.

Once your child has worn holes in her jeans, cut just above the hole and turn them into capri’s.

since we have warm weather through the fall my kids can wear short-sleeve shirts until mid December! That helps to cut down on the number of long sleeves they need.

One thing I do for my daughter is to put leggings and a shirt under her sundresses to take them into the fall!

Often my daughter grows in height so her jean fit her at the waist but are too short, so I cut them into shorts she can use in the summer

My eight-year-old son goes thru jeans pretty quickly. This year I cut them off and used fabric glue to make several shorts!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
