New Crayola Crayons were one of my favorite back-to-school supplies as a kid. There was just something about a brand new pack of shiny, multi-colored crayons that inspired me to want to create colorful images of hearts and rainbows and all things sparkly and pretty that the imaginations of young girls conjure up. That waxy scent still takes me right back to the first day of 2nd grade, kind of like the smell of Playdoh reminds me of rainy day fun. . .

    I always remember coloring everything. We even colored over leaves to make imprints. I still love to color with the kids.

    I just became an email subscriber! Am happy about all the deals you share. I remember coloring pictures that were “mimeographed” by the teachers at my school. They always had that chemical smell…but coloring the pictures was so much fun.

    I am still an avid colour-er. My husband laughs when I get so excited for Back to School sales, cause I get new crayons! I love to colour with kids when I babysit… Good memories, for sure!

    We shaved the sides of a bunch of different color Crayolas onto a sheet of wax paper, folded it in half and ironed it with the iron. Made a wonderful design that looked like a stained glass window!

    I have taught Kindergarten for 32 years and no other brand can beat Crayola for quality. I no longer try other brands because they just can’t stand up to Crayola.

    Although I certainly would not suggest the following, this is a true happening in my kindergarten classroom….Herbie (very cute little guy) was quite anxious about going to school. Much to the chagrin of myself and my assistant, he managed to eat a crayon, out of his pack of eight, each day. He began with red and on the eighth day he finished off black!

    i remember being 6 or 7 and grabbing and sneaking a coloring book and a new box of crayons into the cart every single time i went to wal-mart or the grocery store with my mom. My mom would then go and tell my dad what i did, and one day he asked me why i needed more when i already had enough. I told him that my dream in life was to have all the crayons in the world, it really was at the time, maybe even now. LOL. Now I try to get my son to be creative, rather than playing video games and all that, and he loves coloring with crayons, markers, and my highlighters. Another me ! : )
