New Crayola Crayons were one of my favorite back-to-school supplies as a kid. There was just something about a brand new pack of shiny, multi-colored crayons that inspired me to want to create colorful images of hearts and rainbows and all things sparkly and pretty that the imaginations of young girls conjure up. That waxy scent still takes me right back to the first day of 2nd grade, kind of like the smell of Playdoh reminds me of rainy day fun. . .

    Well my favorite memory, but not my mother’s, was over 35 years ago when I decided to be “creative” all up and down the wall that led to the upstairs. I remember when my artwork was complete, I ran and hid!!

    Finding the red crayon was always my first joy! For whatever reason, I always used up the red crayon in the previous box so I was most eager to see the brand new red one. Anyone else remember the Mr. Rogers video where they showed how crayons were made? Awesome memories. (I also have you in email reader!)

    I always loved the box of 64 with the sharpener in it. I have two favorite menories. There are three of us girls. We would spend hours coloring in our coloring books. My favorite thing though, was my paper doll, P.J. I would create and color fashions for her. I loved it!!

    My favorite memory is the first time I discovered that there were so many different kinds of blue in my box of Crayola crayons my favorite being Midnight Blue. Every picture I drew had that color added. Thank you!
