New Crayola Crayons were one of my favorite back-to-school supplies as a kid. There was just something about a brand new pack of shiny, multi-colored crayons that inspired me to want to create colorful images of hearts and rainbows and all things sparkly and pretty that the imaginations of young girls conjure up. That waxy scent still takes me right back to the first day of 2nd grade, kind of like the smell of Playdoh reminds me of rainy day fun. . .
I’m so glad that Crayola products have stood the test of time and are now inspiring a new generation of imaginations. And I’m happy to share with you about how you can join in the fun!
Every Tuesday night through the month of August, Crayola is sponsoring “Girls Night Out” on Twitter – the mommy social gathering featuring colorful and engaging discussions on all things back-to-school. Crayola has teamed up with MomItForward.com, the creator of “Girls Night Out” (GNO), to bring you the “Crayola Creativitycast.” The weekly series of GNO discussions will feature a new topic each week like “Affordable Fun 101” and “Back to School Survival Guide,” and all GNO participants will have the chance to win great prizes!
For more details about tonight’s #GNO chat and how to participate, go here.
Don’t worry if you’ve already got plans during these events – you also have the opportunity to win one of four Crayola Creativity Packs right here on Deal Seeking Mom!

Every birthday my mom let me make my own pinata. She would get a paper grocery bag. Then she would give me crayons, markers, glue, and construction paper. She told me to go at it decorating it. Then she would fill it with candy and tie it up. I was always proud to show it off at my parties.

I had a Cinderella coloring book . . . when I was in college . . . that was a great stress relief. Actually, until last year when I gave them to my son, I had the first box of crayons I got when I started Kindergarten. Love crayola! I am definitely brand loyal!

I was a big into coloring with crayons when younger. I remember when I learned how to use different shades of green for grass that was far away and close up. I was so proud. Thanks for the great giveaway!

By far my favorite memory of Crayola crayons is the really big pack that you got that had the sharpener in the back. I loved to sharp the crayons so that I had a point at all times.

I can remember spending hours with a new box of crayons and paper. I would draw all kinds of things then pretend that I was in the picture!! I was the youngest girl of 4 girls, my sisters were all much older than me, so this was their way of keeping me quiet!

Although I do remember coloring various things, the activity that sticks out as fun is melting tag ends of crayons between two sheets of waxed paper. We made some pretty amazing designs with that.

I used to love to color with the black crayon over the other colors and scrape it off with scissors–now they make the materials like that!

My favorite memory is using Crayola crayons to color in coloring books, especially on raining days. I loved the boxes with a sharpener built into the back!

When I was a child, my family took long road trips often. I had a yellow plastic case full of crayons, and I would sit in the back and color for hours. The smell of new crayons still reminds me of those road trips.

I remember taking the shavings of worn out Crayola crayons and putting them between 2 sheets of waxed paper. Then we placed a thin towel over the top and ironed the sheets until the crayon melted. I would then create a construction paper frame for the waxed paper and ….Voila! A stained glass window that could be hung up in my bedroom window!
