New Crayola Crayons were one of my favorite back-to-school supplies as a kid. There was just something about a brand new pack of shiny, multi-colored crayons that inspired me to want to create colorful images of hearts and rainbows and all things sparkly and pretty that the imaginations of young girls conjure up. That waxy scent still takes me right back to the first day of 2nd grade, kind of like the smell of Playdoh reminds me of rainy day fun. . .
I’m so glad that Crayola products have stood the test of time and are now inspiring a new generation of imaginations. And I’m happy to share with you about how you can join in the fun!
Every Tuesday night through the month of August, Crayola is sponsoring “Girls Night Out” on Twitter – the mommy social gathering featuring colorful and engaging discussions on all things back-to-school. Crayola has teamed up with MomItForward.com, the creator of “Girls Night Out” (GNO), to bring you the “Crayola Creativitycast.” The weekly series of GNO discussions will feature a new topic each week like “Affordable Fun 101” and “Back to School Survival Guide,” and all GNO participants will have the chance to win great prizes!
For more details about tonight’s #GNO chat and how to participate, go here.
Don’t worry if you’ve already got plans during these events – you also have the opportunity to win one of four Crayola Creativity Packs right here on Deal Seeking Mom!

I have to admit, to this day I still love the smell of a new box of crayons. One whiff and suddenly I’m in grade school again!

my 5 year is standing over my shoulder drooling over these crayola products!
My best memory of crayola was when I was about 6 and my sister and I would color for hours, with our box of 64 crayons, and we would draw rainbows and butterflies for hours on end, life was easy then!

I remember winning a coloring contest in 2nd grade and it was the highlight of my year. We used new crayola crayons and I think I used every single color. I worked so hard, and it was the first time I ever won anything. I now have 4 kids to carry on in their own artistic fashion, may the fun begin! Thanks!

We got new Crayola Crayons whenever we took a trip somewhere so that we could color to pass the time in the car.

My fave memory using crayola products is melting crayons over a fire at the beach and then pouring the wax into the sand to make sand candles. So much fun!
Kris
I loved coloring tons of pictures that my parents proudly hung on the fridge.

My favorite Crayola-related memory is simply whenever I’d open a new box (especially the big 96-count one!)… all the crayons were so nicely sharpened, and they smelled so good! All too soon they’d be stumpy and grubby… and then off to beg Mom for a new box (which I never got unless I used the current crayons until they were too short to grip! :).

My favorite memory is coloring with my older sister almost every day. There was very little money and this was a big deal for a family with six children.

I liked taking the wrapper off the crayons to use the side of the crayon to shade things.

Im sure i have memories growing up using them..but my fav is the first time my 4 yr old drew an actual picture using them. It was a picture of a butterfly and for age 3 she did a wonderful job! Now i buy all types of things for her to use….colored pencils, markers, paints….she is quite the artist now!

I just subscribed and already LOVE your site! My older brother by 1 and a half years, used to torment our little sister (11 months younger than I). We would tell her that the purple Crayola crayons tasted like grape, the orange like orange and the red like cherry. She asked what the grey tasted like, and we told her “skunk.” She refused to take our dare to eat them….although we found a box of gnawed-upon crayons in her closet a week later!

When I was about 5 my grandmother gave me a very expensive toy horse that was covered with velvet and had real hair….I saw Wizard of Oz on t.v. and was very impressed with the Horse of a Different Color…….Ipulled out my crayola box of 64 colors and made MY horse a horse of many many colors….Grandma never got over that one!!!!!!!!!
Kathy
My brother and I had this unwritten rule that neither one of us could use the white crayon — don’t ask me why we made this rule!!

My 2 year old just saw the pic and said..OOOOHHHHH MINE!!! I told her maybe, but she would have to share with her brother and sister.

just today i was remembering watching a sesame street where they showed a crayon factory and how they were made and it all ended with the smooth crayola wrappers being put on at the end. it’s probably been 25 years and i still remember it!
Melanie
I had a crayola caddy when I was a kid , it had a ton of of different colored crayons and markers, I loved it!
Jessica
I remember coloring with my grandmother as a kid and being impressed by how good she was. As an adult, found out that her father and sister back in Europe were professional artists. Unfortunately, I didn’t inherit the talent!
Mindy
I loved opening a new box of 64 with the sharpener in the back and marveling at the sharp, new crayons. Esp. the gold and silver ones!
