Albertsons & Jewel: $0.17 to FREE Post Cereal!

March 30, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski 17 Comments

Post Cereal DealWow, we always seem to miss out on the great cereal deals around here.

Thanks to both Saving with Melissa and A Thrifty Mom for sharing this fabulous scenario so that all of my readers lucky enough to live near an Albertsons or Jewel can snag some free cereal!

The premise of the deal is the same at both stores. Select Post cereals are deeply discounted this week, and when you pair this with the coupons from the 3/1 and yesterday’s Sunday inserts, along with the $5 Catalina coupons that are generated when you purchase five boxes, you get some very cheap to free cereal!

:: Best Scenario

Buy (5) select Post cereals (one should be Post Trail Mix Crunch)
Use $2/1 Post Trail Mix printable (one allowed per 5 boxes)
Use (2) $1/2 Post Selects Cereals, exp. 4-12-09 (SS 3/1/09)
Or Use (2) $1/2 Select Post Cereals, exp. 5-10-09 (SS 3/29/09)
FREE after sale, coupons, and Catalina!

What’s even more beautiful about this deal? If you’ve got the coupons, you can keep rolling it for even more cheap or free cereal!

Are there any other stores in this family that are running a similar promotion?

the Honeycombs are not part of the promo at Albertsons! :( At least the one’s in Idaho. You can see my post here for all the participating products! Yay for cheap cereal!

From what I have seen on other blogs and through the ad, the Honeycombs cereal is not on sale and so I am not sure if that coupon would qualify for one you can use for the five boxes of cereal. The sale is for big kid cereal and so there isn’t supposed to be any sugary cereals on sale. I may be wrong, but that is what I have found. Also, if you go to fabulesslyfrugal she has a link for a $2/1 Trail Mix cereal. If you buy 4 boxes using the two Post coupons from the newspaper and then buy the Trail Mix as your 5th box, it makes the best deal. You can, though, only use one Trail Mix coupon per transaction of 5, from what I have read. I hope this helps and sorry for the lengthy comment!

Thanks, ladies! I don’t have these stores around me, so I’m going solely off what I’m reading here. I’ll go see if I can dig up the Post Trail Mix coupon. I’m pretty sure I’ve posted it on here before.

I can’t get the link to work, it just keeps bringing me back your blog. Where is the coupon?

Saving With Melissa states that she’s in Chicagoland, so I guess it’s possible that it’s not in all locations, Joanne. We don’t have Jewel around here, so I’m not really sure if their ads vary by location.

This deal is working in Spokane, Washington. The Post cereals are marked as $2.07 a box. When you buy 2, the price is $1.57 a box (witth preferred card).

This deal isn’t available in Southern California. The only Post cereals on sale here are kid sugar cereals 2/$4. :(

I live in SE Florida and the Albertsons here have the Post cereals on sale for 2 / $5. Is it possible that they will show up with the sale price that all of you are talking about when the new week of sales start on Wednesday?

It didn’t really work for me, our Post Selects was 2 for $6, and they were out of my Husband’s favorite kinds. I did get the $5 catalina so it wasn’t bad $5/5 boxes, I’ll take that. Oh but the jerk who tried to discipline my kids while I was checking out made it not worth it for me! Sorry, i’m just so mad still!

You might need to try a different browser, Anya. Sometimes that helps.
