I am planning on cutting out all fried foods and decreasing my sugar intake. Along with that plan, I will try to walk three miles, five days a week. This is the year I MUST do something different!

My 11-month old son is transitioning to table food, so it will be important for me to prepare healthy meals that are lower in sodium, fat, and sugar. Also, I will have to limit the amount of junk food and processed food that I consume, because he is constantly watching me and learning from what I do (and eat).

I’m going back to my pre-holiday portion control measures. Oh, and no-chocolate chip cookies for breakfast or lunch. Yep, I think that’s a biggie to helping my pants loosen up.

During the holidays I eat normal portions (no pigging out) with the exception of one meal that I really pig out on. I decide before the holidays begin on which meal celebrations I will be eating a ton of (usually based on what is being served). It feels good not to leave the holidays feeling like I let myself down and I don’t have to work as hard after the holidays to keep my weight down. With that said, I always gain a pound or two and I usually have to cut out sweets and sweet drinks.

Our family is eating more veggies & fruits with our meals and cutting waaayyy back on fast food. Subway is actually one of the few places we eat out at anymore because their sandwiches are more healthy than other places, so yummy and a great value!

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
