My baby is 9 months. He likes cheerios and boiled fruits like squished pears. My older son (15 years old) makes snack bars out of leftover ‘stuff’ in the house. Sunday he made Peanut Butter, Carrot, Oatmeal, Carob Chip Kashi Bars from the shreds at the bottom of the kashi boxes, the baby oatmeal that was expiring, rolled oats, an old rubbery carrot (LOL) shredded, crunchy peanut butter, some 100% maple syrup and about 1/4 cup of marshmallows and unsweetened carob chips. This may sound gross but it’s not. It’s a no bake thing. He puts the marshmallows (not even that much) into a microwave for a minute (to bind) then mixes in the syrup and PB. This makes a weird swirly gook. Then mixes in the oatmeals and other stuff and smooshes it into a plastic tupperware with some non-stick spray. Then he cools it and then leaves it out uncovered for a few hours until it dries out. How innovative. I don’t buy “snack bars” so this is his make-shift way of getting what looks like junk food. I don’t know if it’s counted as wholesome but for a 15 yr old football player that’s fuel food.
