I tweeted about this exciting opportunity last week during the Walmart Saturday Morning Meeting, and now I now have the details on how you can get in on the Sam’s Club Savings Challenge!
New members can score a Sam’s Club Membership that’s good through December 31st, 2008 for just $10! And it’s really easy to get started.
Beginning tomorrow, Friday, October 17th, through Sunday, October 26th, consumers can visit any Sam’s Club to sign up. There are no strings attached. You just hand over $10 and you can test out shopping at Sam’s Club for a full 10 weeks.
I’ve been a long-time member through my dad’s account, and I can tell you they have great holiday deals. So this could not have come at a better time for you all to take advantage of it!
Check out all the details here, and if you decide to sign up, I’d love for you to come back and give me your honest opinion! Or if you’re a current member, tell me why shopping there is worth the membership fee!

Thanks for posting this, I will probably give it a go as our BJ’s membership just expired.

I am a current member and have been for over 6 years! The reason I stay with Sam’s is for the DIAPERS and WIPES!!! I buy a box of 200 diapers for $30 and the wipes are about $12 for (I forgot exact #) about 12 individual packages. I do get a few other things that are a really good deal such as milk, dog/cat food, cheez-its, romaine, etc…
It really is a great place to stock-up but you have to be careful not to get to wild and crazy for things you don’t need just because it looks like a good deal.

I have been a member with Sam’s Club since I can remember. We buy quite a bit of things there. Ground Beef, Shredded Cheese (great savings), boneless skinless chicken breast, pasta, huge cans of tomato sauce, spaghetti sauce and pizza sauce, milk, butter etc. We don’t buy a lot of convenience items like snack foods and things because I try not to keep them in the house.
When I get home, I divide it all up into ZipLoc Bags and freeze it. I even put the sauces into bags and freeze as well.
My advice is, don’t go if you are in a rush. Take time to check the price per. ounce on things like cheese and meat. Some brands are better deals than others. It also helps if you know how much you usually pay for items, sometimes it is not really much cheaper for certain things. You also have to consider your storage space availability. I do highly recommend shopping at Sam’s. If you shop smart, it can truly save you a lot of money.

Can you give us some examples of really good deals at Sams? I am a member but never feel I am getting any better of a deal than Walmart. What are the great deal products? Thanks

Sure, Kippi. Things we tend to buy there are bread, milk, cream, and frozen chicken breasts. We usually get a Digiorno or Freschetta 3-pack of pizzas for quick meals when we have school functions or such. They are about the same price as two elsewhere.
They have great deals on toys before and after the holidays. Most pacakges are bonus packages and come with something extra. For example, they had the Fisher-Price Aquarium last year with a bonus rattle for $5 less than other stores. I waited until after Christmas to get it because I wasn’t due until January, and I managed to get it for $13!
The Sams’s brand baby wipes are also really nice. I try to stockpile elsewhere when I can find them really cheap, but if I run out I always buy theirs.

A couple of weeks ago at Sam’s, I found darling Christmas mugs filled with candy treats and indivually wrapped nicely in cellophane for under $20 for a 4-pack. That’s about $5 per mug, which makes a great teacher or neighbor gift!

It’s actually a more frugal to purchase the annual membership at $40 rather than do this promotion. the price per week for the annual membership is $0.77 vs. $1 with the current promotion!

You’re absolutely correct, Erin! But it’s still a great opportunity to use it for the holiday season at a lower price if you wouldn’t shop there otherwise.

This post is a little delayed, but I have to say that I’m a big fan of Sam’s. Their meat is really good. I especially like it since I have a Food Saver to help store it (actually got that at Sam’s too). You can get ground turkey for $1.99/lb. Their pork chops are really good too. Last trip I got a big thing of instant rice. I price compared and it was almost 1/2 the price of what I found at my local grocery store.
I have also found baby stuff is a lot cheaper there. I get Size 3 Huggies for $.19/diaper. This is cheaper than what you can usually find at the stores on sale and with a coupon, especially if you are a huggies fan. Things like goldfish crackers, animal crackers, and other snacks are also cheaper then most sale prices I find.
Don’t pass up their clothes aisle either. You can get a good price on Carter’s sleepers and other clothes. I just started a price book for true comparisons with the stores, but so far I have found great deals there.
Happy shopping!
