So in my efforts to provide you all with a thorough review of the Keurig Home Brewing System (I know — rough life, LOL), I ordered one of these Keurig My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filters to see if I can “frugalize” it a bit. They’re on sale for just $8.99 right now in case you’ve been looking to try them too!
Thanks, My Frugal Adventures!
Don’t forget you can also score a great deal on the regular K-cups right now as well. I ordered 2 boxes of the Coffee People Donut Shop Coffee tonight for $17.25 which is a little over $10 off retail, and I got free two-day shipping with my Amazon Prime trial!
Not a bad deal in my opinion, and there were even better deals to be found — I’m just a little picky when it comes to my coffee.

I SO desire one of these!!! Coffee gets me out of bed in the morning, and I feel so much better after having a cup. I am the only coffee drinker in the house, so I just make half a pot each day. This would be PERFECT!

I purchase the k cup coffee 18 count boxes at Bed Bath & Beyond.
They are $9.99 and I use a 20% off per item which makes them $7.99 a box. My Bed Bath & Beyond lets me use their 20% off coupons even if they are expired.

have you posted on the buy 2 boxes get 2 boxes free when you register your machine on Keurig.com? When you register you get a coupon code for the 2 free boxes “WARRANTY”plus ree shipping. I got 4 24 count boxes for $25.11 shipped. A bit cheaper and the full line of K-cups to choose from so more variety around the house! Did it under myself and hubby so we just had delivered 8 different types of coffee for a little over $50. Great deal!

My family has been reusing the old K-cups and filling it with our own grounds. I found a website that explains the process. Its pretty easy, simple, saves a bit more of the environment, and lets us use our own flavored beans we have left around the house.

If I may make a suggestion…I too had been wanting a Keurig. Just so happens I found my new toy on Craigslist. Its the Costco version B66 new in the box, with 90 k cups, the reusable filter, and 2 extra cartridges for $75. That’s all the guy wanted and I was more than happy to give it. I didn’t even try to haggle! So not me… But I said this all to say try craigslist. There was even one commercial Keurig for sale for $45! She hadn’t even used it because she went out of business… I still want to pick that one up too… Sorry for the long post.

The MY K-Cup filter works great! Bought a Keurig for my Grandmother with the filter (because she loves her Folgers), and she loves it!

Costco had gift cards for Keurig stuff. Pay $79 for
$100 card.
Also Green mountain has great membership deals.
Discounts and free shipping.

I got the Keurig last year for Christmas. I use it everyday. I do not buy the k-cups. The reusable filter is wonderful! I always use my own coffee in it. Just dump out the grinds, rinse, and use it again. Well worth it!

I brought myself one for Christmas and love it. I brought it from QVC I believe and got about 28 k cups with it for 79.99. To make it affordable to me I am paying about $18 a month for 5 months which includes the shipping and tax. This makes it really affordable if you don’t have all of the money upfront. I’m sure most of us can do $18 dollars a month for great coffee.
I didn’t know about registering the keurig but will also find my paperwork so that I can get some free coffee. Thanks you guys for all the info.

I bought my husband one of these My K-cups for Christmas. I have been using it too! I LOVE it.

I got the My K-Cup filter for free when I bought my Keurig from QVC last year. It’s all we use now! It’s so much more economical than buying K-cups and only takes seconds to put a spoonful of coffee in it.

Where do I find the My K-Cup filter on sale for $8.99 ? I am in the market for one. When I click on the link it takes me to Amazon and says they are 11.99.
Jenni
Denise,
I clicked on the link earlier in the day and it was $8.99. My guess it was only on sale for a limited time and now it is back to it’s “normal” sale price.

I found that this reusable Kcup filter makes really, really weak coffee. I am still searching for something to use in my Keurig that allows me to brew my favorite coffees from Boca Java and Peets.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE tell me the secret of using the reusable filter. The coffee is super weak & spills out the side of the basket (which is why it’s weak); this feature appears to be a design flaw. We’ve tried packing the grounds very lightly so as not to compact them, using a variety of grinds and filling the basket only half full but we get the SAME results every time.
The regular k-cup pods work fine.
IS THERE A TRICK TO USING IT?
This is driving us batty.

My k-cup filter did the same thing. Don’t understand why some do and some don’t have problems, but after extensive research, I found a blog where someone finally found a very easy, very effective solution.
I’m assuming yours has an indentation in the top of it like mine did. Take a wine cork, cut it to approximately the same thickness as the indented ring on top of the k-cup filter “lid” and lay it in there. (it can be a little thicker, the idea is to seal the area between the little metal piece the coffee comes through, and the lid hole that’s obviously too far away from the metal piece – that’s where it leaks and why it comes down the side) You will need to punch some type of little starter hole in the cork, and the first couple of times you use it, it will probably stay stuck to the metal piece when you lift the lever up, but just pull it off carefully. This little fix worked perfectly for us, it hasn’t leaked since. You should be able to fill it to within 1/2 to 3/4″ from the top with grounds after this fix.
Our problem was that we don’t drink wine, so had to beg some corks from wino friends at work. One cork should last indefinitely though, as you can make 4 or 5 adapters with one cork.

You can also go to Lowe’s or Home Depot and purchase a rubber gromet for about $1.25.

Robin Tully Flannery Reuse your K cups
Maybe you like a certain coffee and it doesn’t come in a K cup. Maybe you don’t like to clean that little basket after each use on the K cup reusable thing a ma jiggy. Maybe you mistakenly threw the basket away!
No worries… – REUSE the K cups you have! Save time and money by preparing a batch of several! Don’t throw away your used K cups. Collect a few and when you have about 8 or so make a new batch with your favorite coffee.
Materials you will need:
– used K cups
– heavy duty aluminum foil
– a small brush to clean the used K cup filter
– ground coffee of your choice. Do not grind too fine as you will get too much oil from the beans. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being coarse and 10 being fine, I grind at about 8.
Here’s how it works:
1. Using a pointed knife, cut the top off of the old K cup being careful not to insert the tip too far (this could pierce the filter). Just start the cut and peel off the foil top. (see pic 1 upper left corner)
2. Discard the coffee grounds in the K cup.
3. Wash your Kcup with warm water using the sink spray to get as much coffee out as possible. Depending on what was in the K cup you may have to use your brush to gently clean out any small grounds from the filter folds. The filter is surprisingly strong, so don’t be afraid to get as much gook out as possible. You can even swish the K cup through some soapy dishwater to help – just be sure to rinse well.
4. Drain upside down until dry.
5. Cut circles from aluminum foil about a quarter inch larger than the top of the K cup. To do this fold a piece of foil several times, put an empty K cup down on it (upside down) and trace the outside of the K cup onto the foil. Use your best judgment to cut the foil outside of the line you just traced by about a quarter inch. Cut the foil and unfold. Depending upon the size of the piece of foil you should have about 8 – 16 circles.
6. Fill the dried empty K cups to about 3/4th full.
7. Cover the top with your foil circle and use your fingers to “crimp” the foil around the edge of the K cup.
8. To use, be sure that you line up the hole in the bottom of your K cup with the pin in the machine. You will feel it sit in when you have it right.
9. Shut the Keurig machine and ENJOY!!!
