Or you can get the trial for free by clicking on the Free Trial and then not buying anything. It also works – I did it.

You don’t have to buy anything at all to get the free trial, to be honest. You just have to go through the process until you get to the page where you sign up for the Amazon Prime, after that’s done you can go back out of your shopping cart and never have to buy a book or anything. You don’t have to submit payment, just go through and sign up for Amazon Prime then leave your shopping cart. Go back and make sure you turn off the automatic renewal so you aren’t charged at the end of the 3 months and you’re done without having spent anything!

The system does allow you to get the free trial without making a purchase; however, that wasn’t what Amazon intended when they made the offer so I’d still recommend that you make a small purchase. It’s possibly that Amazon will pull the free trial from your account if you don’t follow the protocol that they’ve laid out.
