earthmonth-giveawayEarth month is winding down now, but I've got a huge giveaway that will help you maintain your green efforts long beyond just this month. Included in this giveaway are the following items:

  • Bissell Little Green Machine
  • Clorox Greenworks Cleaners
  • White Cloud Recycled Paper Towels and Toilet Paper

I had the opportunity to try these products out myself, and I've been very pleased with all of them. I think of all of them, the Bissell Little Green Machine is my favorite because it makes cleaning up all of those little kid and pet messes so easy and convenient. I use canvas bags at the store...I also unplug anything not in use

2 Jacqueline in Atlanta April 29, 2009 at 11:40 am

I keep my canvas bags in the car and try not to forget them.

I always have used the grocery plastic bags for liners for the little trash cans, so at least I am not buying trashcan liners. At least I reuse before they get thrown out.

I am starting to use cloth napkins rather than paper ones. I have a ton of them. Might as well use em.

I am writing down my errands and combining runs to town into only a couple of days a week rather than going and going and going like the Energizer bunny. Besides, I get more done at home this way!

Thanks for having the giveaway.

I also have a little garden in my backyard with vegtables in it...Just enough to make a little salad but I still love it

12 Stephnie Padilla April 29, 2009 at 12:06 pm

We recycle :)

13 Diana Blanco Bolstad April 29, 2009 at 12:13 pm

I recycle EVERYTHING. From my food scraps to my cell phones, batteries, and even plastic flower pots.

14 Puneeta April 29, 2009 at 12:38 pm

I have two sets of reusable bags. One for car and one at home..so that we dont miss it when we have a surprise stop for grocery.

I always use plastic bags (older ones before i started using reusable bags) as my trash can liners.

I always give away things which i dont use anymore but are good in condition at Craigslist-Free Items. Dont want to fill landfills anymore.

Try not to buy much stuff (clothing or anything) that i dont really need even if i like it. Saves money and makes life simple. Simple life lets u enjoy what u already have. Saves packing and wastage. This is my idea of saving our planet :)

Some of my favorite green tips are:

1) Make my own household cleaners using ingredients such as: bleach, baking soda, vinegar
2) For the first time I have started a container garden this year with tomatoes, zucchini, basil and sage. I plant to start other veggies soon. I also just planted a rhuarb plant in my backyard!
3) I always use canvas bags at the grocery store and recycle all my recyclables

One word: vinegar. I use it for everything! I keep a spray bottle half vinegar and half water, and that's my everyday cleaner (I'll also use baking soda if something's cooked on: scrub with baking soda or put on baking soda, spray with the vinegar solution, watch the fun bubbles and then wipe it all clean). I also use vinegar along with my dishsoap to help with grease and as fabric softner in my laundry. The stuff is pure magic.

Not only am I going greener in our home, but I am teaching my children to do so as well. We use tote bags for shopping, recycle everything that we possible can, drive when only necessary, and to use water/electricity in moderation. We also take a weekly walk in the ditches by our place and pick up garbage...what a good feeling to know we are doing all we can!

34 Lauren April 29, 2009 at 3:04 pm

I hang the clothes to dry! Frugal (electricity, plus keeps clothing nicer) plus green! :D

I started composting this year for my garden..how easy!! I use my tote bags for shopping and if I end up with plastic bags, they go to good use in the house. I reuse all my shipping boxes and jars. Just to name a few things we do to help our environment. Thanks for a great giveaway!!

44 Crystal April 29, 2009 at 4:07 pm

I use canvas shopping bags. Not only are they green, but they are much easier to carry than the plastic ones.

We are starting a compost pile. Also we use canvas bags at the market buy as much local as possible, recycle and use cfl lights.

47 vanessa brown April 29, 2009 at 4:20 pm

I use this recipe for an all - purpose spray cleaner:

2 Cups white distilled vinegar, 2 Cups Water, & 20 drops essential oil

48 Jackie Sayers April 29, 2009 at 4:32 pm

I use cloth grocery bags now, with the occaisional plastic ones that are brought in by the family I line our bathroom trash can with those, keeping in mind to reuse, and reduse.

49 Christy April 29, 2009 at 4:41 pm

cloth grocery bags are genius - less plastic bags means less trash in your home and in the landfills. when I do have plastic bags they are used for kitty litter disposal. Whenever possible I don't get a bag from a retail store- who needs a big bag for your new lipstick that is packaged in a box - throw it and your receipt in your big purse or make a point to carry a big bag when shopping for that option.
