Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday. I’ll be posting 24-hour giveaways at 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET to give you plenty of chances to win!
Being able to see clearly and easily is key to a child’s success in school. If you can’t see what’s going on, how can you possibly learn? As many as one in four kids won’t be able to see properly as they head back to school. Annual eye exams can help undetected vision problems to be caught early so that children are getting the most out of school.
To highlight how important eye and vision health is I’ve teamed up with VSP Vision Care, the nation’s largest not-for-profit vision benefits and services company to offer you this amazing iPad giveaway. The iPad can help as several applications are built to boost visual acuity and overall eye health, making them perfect for doing eye exercises and keeping your eyes in shape.
Visit VSP’s website, SeeMuchMore.com to find out what you can do for your vision, find out interesting eye facts, watch videos with Bill Nye the Science Guy, play video games and more!

I think my big takeaway from seemuchmore.com is that there are actual exercises you can do to strengthen your vision. Did I know that before? If I did, I didn’t remember.
I will have some fun practicing with my 4 year old!
Thanks!
Stefanie
I learned that early reading and art actually aid physical development of kids’ vision.

I found the 20-20-20 idea very helpful from VSP. I’m on the computer a lot, so hopefully that will help my eyes.

I had no idea about this one….
“When working on the computer, turn off overhead lights.”
I would have thought the opposite (so that there wouldn’y be such a contrast) but I am definitely going to try this because I have noticed that my eyesight has gotten worse since I started staring at the computer all day at work!

Reading & art early in life help kids’ vision development! Who knew??

I had no idea that your vision could be connected to so many other things going on in your body: “Eye exams can detect signs of diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.”
Lynn

Transplanting whole eyes is a medical impossibility today, because of the thread that connects the eyes to the brain. This connection is called the optic nerve, and it cannot be severed.

I checked out seemuchmore.com. Thank you for the link. I did not know that “Eye exams can detect signs of diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.”
And also, I saw the main part was insurance that it covers and is seeking people to apply for it either with employee or through your own individual payment. I looked up my town to see if it covered my current eye doctor.
thanks. :o)
Hana
And also, yes, of course I am a fan of your’s on Facebook. Excited to have found your great site. Thanks for helping all of us!

I did not know that eye strain is the #1 computer complaint. I had better start doing those exercises for my eyes!
