    I just LOVE Cherry Preserves…my fave and so hard to find! I do still find jars on occassion when in the mountains of North Carolina!
    Which also brings me to my fave trad of Memorial Day…my folks have a little cabin a mile from the Blue Ridge Pkway…and, this tiny town still has all those traditional old timey values…like parades on memorial day and the 4th to name a few…the community is very much into USA and vets and such. They also have a huge, huge pot luck everyone is invited, ice cream soicals…games for young and old. Mountain Music…and, a real wagon train comes through every year. The wagon train trails hundreds of miles.
    Anyway that is one of mine if I am in NC if home going to the cemetary where they have a night candle lighting ceremony for all the vets…with flags, flowers and music…very beautiful and tearful.
    Sorry that was long.

    We don’t have any set in stone traditions. This year it will be my husband’s birthday and we will surely have friends and family over for bbq.

    When we were kids in Michigan Memorial Day meant the first trip Up North to the cottage for the summer.

    Our Memorial Day tradition is to grill (if we’re in the ‘burbs with family and friends) or to get out and enjoy the water features on NYC’s playgrounds!
