Win-It Wednesday: Shoe-La-La! & $100 Zappo’s Gift Card (3 Winners!)

January 19, 2011 by Tara Kuczykowski

Join me every week for Win-It Wednesday, with 24-hour giveaways just for you!

My four-year-old daughter took one look at the sparkly and colorful cover of Shoe-La-La! and proclaimed that we must sit down and read it immediately — we’ve now read it 462 times in the past two days…

Well, maybe that’s exaggerating a little, but she adored it from the start, and she’s probably asked me to read it at least that many times! That said, it really is a great children’s book, and I love that it inspires kids to get creative and think outside of the box.

More about Shoe-LaLa!:

Meet four girls who love shoes: SHOE-LA-LA!

“Shoes with zippers, Shoes with straps, Shoes with buckles, Shoes with taps”.

Prance from page to page in search of the perfect pair of party shoes. Girls of all ages will love to go on a shoe shopping expedition with these four friends, from “fuzzy boots for when it snows” to “ballerinas on our toes.” The girls try on every shoe in the store, but “eeny, meeny, my, oh, my [they] just don’t know which shoes to buy.” With some feathers and glitter, a little bit of glue, and a LOT of imagination, the girls come up with the best shoes of all!

Geisel Honor winner Karen Beaumont’s rollicking rhymes – paired with the vibrant illustrations of LeUyen Pham – capture the excitement of finding your own style, and the joy of sharing it with friends.

“Party dresses, party hair, perfect party shoes to wear!”

Future fashionistas will fall head over heels for Shoe-La-La!

My current favorite pair of shoes is a pair of Merrell all-terrain type shoes. They’re water proof, laceups with a good, solid, chunky sole. And they’re very close to being retired. :..( They’re great shoes, very comfortable and have seen me through a lot of great trips, rehab after knee surgery and all sorts of other stuff. I’m sad that they’re dying, especially since I haven’t found anything that I can afford to replace them. But, maybe if I win….:)

Thanks for the chance to win!

My favorite pair of shoes are my gym shoes. I’ve had two kids, so getting back into shape is really important, as is promoting a healthy life-style for them. While I have about 50 pairs of gym shoes, my favorite just came in the mail about 6 months ago ( 4 months after my son was born) They are Nike Shocks, with the NIKE ID, the ones you design yourself. They are BRIGHT pink and black and have a flower on the outside of each foot (looks like a tattoo) and the left shoe reads CARPE and the right shoe reads DIEM. They just ran their (and my) first 13.1 mile marathon this past weekend!

My favorite shoes are red with 3″ heels. I have no idea why I love them so much because they hurt my feet and my husband calls them my Dorothy shoes but I do. I haven’t worn them in years but refuse to give them away.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
