    I love to read, so I read to my babies from the time they are newborns… we always have books around and we read them while waiting at doctors or I read to my toddler while nursing. We go to the library weekly. My kids seem me reading, I even like to read certain books/series with my older kids, they like that.

    I read to my daughter every day, especially every night at bedtime. She knows the routine: 2 books before bed. I let her choose which 2 books if she wants, if not then I choose the 2 books. When I read to her, I describe what’s happening in the pictures and point out details. I make sure to use a variety of voices – one for each character. We also go to the library often to pick out books.

    My grandchildren would love this! Their mom, as well as the rest of the family, give the kiddos books at almost every holiday to grow their collection and appreciate different styles of writing.

    I encourage them by actively seeking out reading and learning new things myself, so I lead by example. I also take them to the library often to get books, and purchase books for the kids on their birthdays and other holidays. Thanks.
