My grandmother’s engagement ring….she passed away 7 years ago today. She was a second mother to me and all of my cousins, and even to their children. When I wear her ring, I remember her love and the love that she and my grandfather shared.

My most meaningful piece of jewelry is my engagement ring. After 10 years together, it is still the only piece of jewelry that my husband picked out on his own.

I have two. First is my wedding rings. My husband had my birthstones put into my engagement ring, and his into his the wedding ring, so that when we were married they were joined together. Pretty amazing guy!

The other is a necklace I got my first Mother’s Day. We adopted my daughter through foster care and my first Mother’s Day the adoption had not been finalized yet, but in our hearts she was our daughter the moment we hugged her. My husband picked out this very unique silver charm of a little girl in pigtails like what our daughter wore and I have worn it every day since. I think of it like my wedding band. It’s a symbol of our bond. This daughter charm would be the perfect way to give her one that would symbolize the same thing. She leaves for college soon (she is a junior in hs) and that would be something nice for her to wear now and into the future she carves out for herself.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
