In LaRue Across America, Ike’s plan for a peaceful cruise with Mrs. LaRue are thwarted when their neighbor, Mrs. Hibbins, falls suddenly ill. Mrs. LaRue suggests that she and Ike care for her cats while Mrs. Hibbins is in the hospital, inviting them along on the cruise. But cats aren’t allowed, and Mrs. LaRue decides to take them all on a week’s vacation of road-tripping. Ike is beside himself and quickly takes up his pen to tell us why!

Join award-winner Mark Teague on this romping road trip across America. Readers can follow along on the maps of the U.S. that span the endpapers. Teague drives us to the story’s satisfying conclusion, and we are left with one profound question: Can cats and dogs really be friends?

I love the colorful and engaging illustrations in this book! The story is a fun read, although probably best suited to an older child who will understand the humor and be able to sit through the entire story. It was a bit too lengthy to be a bedtime story for my 3 and 4-year-olds, but my 6, 8, and 9-year-olds thoroughly enjoyed it.

    we live in OC MD and I would love to take a road trip across the country to drive up the west coast. Over christmas we did take a road trip to florida. Overall the trip was a success, leaving the snow behind and driving to sunshine. Especially since we had a car full, me, my husband, our one and four year olds and our two not so small dogs.

    That is a tough one. There are so many great places, but our granddaughter wants to go and visit salt lake. She wants to be able to float on top of the water.

    I would love to visit the majestic Red Wood Forests in Northern California. We done a few road trips, but not all across America

    I have never heard of these books before now, but I am sure my daughter will love them! I am super surprised to see the name LaRue- that is my 10 month old daughter’s middle name after her great grandmother. I am sure she will be every excited as she gets older to see something with her name on it :) I would love to travel to Maine with my daughter and husband for some whale watching!

    There are so many places to visit. But my granddaugher wants to go to the Salt Lake. She wants to lay and float in the water.

    Myself, I would love to go see California! The husband is from California and talks about all sorts of places.
