In LaRue Across America, Ike’s plan for a peaceful cruise with Mrs. LaRue are thwarted when their neighbor, Mrs. Hibbins, falls suddenly ill. Mrs. LaRue suggests that she and Ike care for her cats while Mrs. Hibbins is in the hospital, inviting them along on the cruise. But cats aren’t allowed, and Mrs. LaRue decides to take them all on a week’s vacation of road-tripping. Ike is beside himself and quickly takes up his pen to tell us why!
Join award-winner Mark Teague on this romping road trip across America. Readers can follow along on the maps of the U.S. that span the endpapers. Teague drives us to the story’s satisfying conclusion, and we are left with one profound question: Can cats and dogs really be friends?
I love the colorful and engaging illustrations in this book! The story is a fun read, although probably best suited to an older child who will understand the humor and be able to sit through the entire story. It was a bit too lengthy to be a bedtime story for my 3 and 4-year-olds, but my 6, 8, and 9-year-olds thoroughly enjoyed it.
Two lucky Deal Seeking Mom readers will each win a LaRue Across America Prize Pack that includes:
- a copy of LaRue Across America
- a LaRue Across America backpack
- a $100 gas gift card to go on your own adventure

I’d love to go to Washington, D.C. or New York. While I’ve never gone coast to coast, I’ve made several long distance trips, as I live 1200 miles from my family.

I have been on many roadtrips in my 32 yrs. of life. As a kid, we went on several roadtrips. The one that sticks out in my head the most is the one from Riverside, California (where I’m from) to Orlando, Florida, then a few weeks later from Orlando, Florida to Conyers, Georgia. As an adult, I’ve driven from Jacksonville, Alabama to a few places in Tennessee. I have also driven from Jacksonville, Alabama to Leon, Kansas. I have gone from Ft. Riley, Kansas to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. From Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Munford, Alabama. From Munford, Alabama to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. From Munford, Alabama to Pensacola, Florida. I love roadtrips! I’d love to take my kids on a nice roadtrip all throughout the U.S. to places they haven’t been to yet, but with gas prices as high as they are now, (nearly $4 where we live), I don’t think we’ll be doing that anytime soon.

I’d love to visit the Northeast. I’ve never really explored that part of the country.

I would really love or like to visit disney land in florida. I have never been there. My kiddos are growing up on me too too fast and this would be a great getaway for us all. In all reality a trip like this would cost a lot and financially I don’t think my family would have enough money saved for such a trip. I do think a nice camping trip, to one of the campsites by one of the lakes here in kentucky, would be something that my family could work in our tight budget. I really do hope my family can do this this year, we have not been camping in a few years and plus the thought of beening outdoors is calling my name. I am really hoping to go forward with this trip to the wilderness. I have never done a road trip around the world before. I have been as fas as daytona beach florida and that’s it..

I do assume traveling from kentucky to flordia is a roadtrip, I guess I misunderstood the question thought it meant have I been around the world and back. (sorry)
