In LaRue Across America, Ike’s plan for a peaceful cruise with Mrs. LaRue are thwarted when their neighbor, Mrs. Hibbins, falls suddenly ill. Mrs. LaRue suggests that she and Ike care for her cats while Mrs. Hibbins is in the hospital, inviting them along on the cruise. But cats aren’t allowed, and Mrs. LaRue decides to take them all on a week’s vacation of road-tripping. Ike is beside himself and quickly takes up his pen to tell us why!

Join award-winner Mark Teague on this romping road trip across America. Readers can follow along on the maps of the U.S. that span the endpapers. Teague drives us to the story’s satisfying conclusion, and we are left with one profound question: Can cats and dogs really be friends?

I love the colorful and engaging illustrations in this book! The story is a fun read, although probably best suited to an older child who will understand the humor and be able to sit through the entire story. It was a bit too lengthy to be a bedtime story for my 3 and 4-year-olds, but my 6, 8, and 9-year-olds thoroughly enjoyed it.

    I would love to take a cross-country road trip with the kids someday (from East to West coast). You know, tourist-style, stopping at all of the ridiculous roadside attractions!

    I have never done a road trip around the country, but my dream trip would take me halfway around it! I would love to take my family to Wyoming, stopping at sights along the way, and visiting the places I visited when I lived in Wyoming. It’s an amazing state!

    I’ve never done a cross country road trip – even though I’ve lived in a trailer before. I want to eventually visit all the big cities in the US, like Seattle, New York, and Chicago

    Cool. I have done semi road trips… LOL Since I live almost to the most southern spot in the USA (FL) it takes alonggggg time to go anyway.
    My best trip was up coast to Vermont. And, up West Coast from San Fran to Tahoo and Yosemite…camping the whole way. LOVE it.

    Next I would love to go to either Sedona, Albeq that whole area…OR Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Jacksonwhole…or Colorado and Telluride. I have a big bucket list just for the great country of OURS! :) Thanks

    We took a road trip to Washington DC, spent a few days then traveled to PA throught the Amish Country, on our trip back to NC we stopped at many places including Monicello. We are planning a road trip for this summer but no definite desinations as of yet.
