Do It Yourself Giveaway: $100 Home Depot Gift Card

December 22, 2008 by Tara Kuczykowski

gingerbread_man_cardHome Depot is my favorite store to shop at for DIY projects, and we’ve often purchased Home Depot gift cards for our family members because it’s a fun and easy gift idea. After all, they have something for everyone!

Home Depot gift cards are a great idea for the do-it-herself-ers and handymen on your gift lists, and if you’re scrambling for some last minute ideas, this is a great solution! This year The Home Depot has 17 holiday gift card styles to choose from, including a scratch-n-sniff gingerbread man that can be decorated with stickers and a card that looks and feels like it is covered with the handyman’s wrapping paper – duct tape.

Maybe a gift card is too impersonal for you and you’re still struggling to come up with new holiday gift ideas? This year, leave the sweaters and fruit baskets behind and get the do-it-yourselfer in your life a selection of great tools, which can be affordable and practical gifts that last for years and never go out of style. The Home Depot offers hundreds of tools and home improvement products ensuring that you’ll find appropriate gifts for the new homeowner, weekend warrior or experienced pro. Featured in the photos below are the new Ryobi® Lithium-Ion 4 Piece 12V Kit (Price: $149, SKU 285-630) and the new Makita 10.8V Li-Ion 2 Piece Cordless Combo Kit (Price: $179, SKU 637-212).

Also, if I were to win a gift card, I would give it to my mom. It’s what I’m planning on giving her anyway, and we won’t be seeing her until awhile after Christmas anyway. She mentioned when we bought OUR house that she’s always wanted to get nicer light switchplates and heating vent covers to make HER house look a bit more formal but she’s just never done it. My mom has trouble spending money on herself, so I wanted to let her pick out her switchplates and heating vent covers and install them for her.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
