November 5, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski 25 Comments

Xbox 360 Arcade $99
If you’re looking for a steal on a gaming console this holiday season, Walmart has you covered. They’re ramping up to Black Friday with a special one-day, in-store only sale this Saturday, November 7th at 8:00 a.m.

My personal pick is the Xbox 360 Arcade console priced at $199. You’ll get a $100 eGift card with purchase!

Other hot electronics:

  • Magnavox DVD Player with 1080p Upconverter, $29
  • HP 250GB 15.6″ Laptop, $298
  • Sony Blu-ray Disc Player, $148
  • Sharp 42″ LCD HDTV, $498
  • Panasonic 46″ Plasma HDTV, $788

Quantities are limited, so get there early if you want in on the savings!

The post title says $99, but your description down below says $199. Which is it? Just clarifying, thanks!

It’s effectively $99 after you receive the $100 eGift card. It’s an electronic gift card that you can use on Walmart.com, so you could use it on games, extra controllers, or basically anything you can purchase online. You can do Site to Store for free shipping.

Wow. Wonder how busy it will be ;)
Can someone help me with what the ‘Arcade’ in the title means? I’m very clueless, only know that my husband has been wanting an XBOX 360 to play the new Halo since the system came out ;) So I don’t want to ask him!

    Thanks!

Lauren, the Arcade version doesn’t have a hard drive. But you could take the eGift card an buy the hard drive and still come out ahead of buying the next model up.

Cool, thanks for the answer Tara! So you can get one for it, that’s good to know! I’m clueless with video games (I went Wii game shopping last night at Target, very funny!)

My husband would mainly use this for halo also, Lauren. He is throwning the idea around and hopefully give me the verdict. With out the hard drive I know he wouldn’t play it much because you would be starting from the begining each time you play.

Tara do you know how much the next model with a hard drive would cost? Sorry I would look but have no idea what I’m looking at! Thanks for the e question answer by the way!

Does anyone typically know how big one day sales like this work at Walmart? (I usually avoid it like the plague, but I’m desperate for a new computer!)

Do you typically line up in the electronics department? Or, outside the store? Are the items not brought out until 8 am or are they there and the price is not effective until 8 am?

    Kristin :)

Longtime lurker jumping in for the first time ;) The Arcade 360 has memory blocks that will hold your game progress/etc so you don’t have to start over each time. Its not a lot for the big time gamers but its sufficient for most everyone else.

You should ask your walmart electronics dept manager if they are allowing people to line up or how they are handling the sale. Each store handles it differently but usually lines form the night before for the big items. But do ask your local walmart electronics dept manager. Trust me, they will be able to help you the most ;)

    Kristin:
I got one of the computers at a similar sale last year–this is how it worked (it was a 24 hour supercenter):
They formed a line for each item in the electronics department. They had 50 computers available, so the first 50 on line got a computer. The computers are special model computers, so they are not on the shelf already. They brought out the pallet of them at 8:00 and started selling them to the people in line. I got there about 5:45 and there were 10 people in line in front of me. The year before, they set up chairs in the old “lay-away section” they had 25 computers, so they set up 25 chairs, if you were sitting in a chair when the sale started, you got to buy a sale computer.

It is a little calmer than black Friday, but I would get there early and ask where the line will be forming. If they haven’t got a sytem set up, you can set up your own. That is what the people that got there last year did. They just went to electronics and started forming lines for each product and the employees just went with that system.

    Jennifer:
Did the store confirm that they would only have 4 tv’s available? Last year, with the computer I purchased, my store ad had said “minimum of 10″(I was upset because I was number 11 on line) but the store actually got 50.

I’m really liking this Xbox 360 Arcade deal but our Walmart is not a 24 hr variety. It opens at 8 am so I’m wondering how this is going to work and what time I should be in the parking lot. Any recommendations? Does 6 am sound early enough? Or 5? I know there isnt’ a definate answer but I’ve never done anything like this before.

I think I’ll call the electronics dept. manager and find out which set of doors to stand at when they unlock in the morning. Will they unlock them and let everybody sprint through the store? lol or do they come out before opening and hand out vouchers?

Thanks for any feedback, I’m a rookie and I’m anxious to get my toy haha.

Ehh sorry, I just called and our Walmart is now open 24 hrs (yay, I don’t have to stand outside haha). What time should I roll in there? 5 am? Any seasoned veterans at this out there that could give me an idea?

    Thanks!

Wow – walmart needs to get their act together. Just tried calling 4 local stores

    1) 1st come first serve, ask for item (Yeah, that is DEFINTELY not useful information)

    2) “Uh, I don’t know ma’am – my manager will be back from lunch in half an hour”

    3) No one picked up the phone in electronics

    4) No one picked up the phone AT ALL

Im going to tryto drag all 5 of my children out tomorrow while my hubby is working. This IS going to be his Christmas gift. I’m going to buy him a couple games with the giftcards. Will we get them instantly at checkout?

Does it come with a controller? If so, I’m assuming only one correct???

I scored the laptop and the xbox this morning.. my boyfriend and I were at our walmart at 5:30 am (second ones there) and I clipped and sorted my coupons waiting for 8 am!! The girls around me were so interested in my coupon binder and learning about couponing – I gave them this site information so they can learn too.

It wasn’t as crazy as I thought it would be – however as I was checking out, my credit cards wouldn’t go through and I was freaked out – I ran home to check my accounts and they were fine – turns out, the cashier was hitting “gift card” as payment. I can’t imagine what the girls were thinking – there with my coupon binder and my credit card being declined. LOL

I scored 2 x box’s! One at each of our 2 area WalMarts. One is going to be a gift for my bog baby (husband) and the other is going to be a group gift for the children and their play room. My husband doesnt know I bought him one. Just that I got the children one and he is so jealous. He already has a PS3 and WII, lol!!! Like I said, he is my big baby!

I got my 42 inch tv! When I got there at 7:30 they only had two, down from the 4 they had told me they previously had. Maybe employees held two back. My husband and kids are soooooo happy!!!

The Xbox 360 promotion does not end until Saturday the 14th, I just purchased one today. Your best bet would be to go online and check to see if your local Wal Mart has them in stock before you make a wasted trip to the store.
