I just went to my local Walmart and found the 20ct packs on clearance for 2.50, got 4. Then got 2 of the 97c ones to see if they would give me trouble. Got to use all 6 coupons and the overage went to the rest of my order. Coupons didn’t beep or anything, it just took it right off with no problems. Cashier was freaking out that I saved $39 in coupons. Lol.

I just went to a Wal Mart Supercenter in Ocala, FL, and I had a terrible experience trying to get this deal.

The store manager was very rude and swore that there was no such thing as change for an overage. I pulled up the coupon policy directly from the walmartstores.com web site and showed her. She said she didn’t “care what (I) have on (my) little phone.”

She also said that it would take 2-3 hours to get corporate on the phone. I left empty-handed AND they had written all over my coupons so I probably can’t use them anywhere else.

I called to complain, and the customer service lady on the phone named Kayla was super nice. She read directly from the coupon policy and said I was right.

She said she would contact upper management about it. I’m happy with the way she handled it.

I just think that this manager in Ocala named SANDRA should think twice before talking down to her customers and try to be more helpful. In this economy with so many people desperate for jobs, she should at least try to be polite to her customers. I’m sure there’s someone else out there with manners who would love to be in her position.

I’m not happy and will likely never go back to Wal Mart. The people at Publix and Target are a million times nicer and more professional than this woman was to me.

I’m sorry to hear you had such a bad experience, Erica. It’s going to take some time to implement the new policy, but that’s no excuse for being treated in such a rude manner.

Tara, I had a bad experience ( I live in your area) that ended with a manager telling me that
he was going to “set corporate straight”.

That makes me laugh! I’m guessing he’s in for a bit of a surprise… Which store were you at, Mary?

It was in the Redplum insert in the Sunday paper on February 20th.

What’s worse is she wasn’t the only one who was rude to me. The first “manager” who came up to the register wouldn’t even look at me. She just mumbled stuff to the cashier (who was nicer).

Then, she started scratching out the $3 printed on the coupon and writing $0.97 on them. That’s when I realized she wasn’t giving me the overage, so I stopped her. But it was too late. My coupons were ruined.

That’s when this Sandra woman came up with her attitude. I showed her the policy from the walmart web site on my phone. She read it, and refused to pull it up on one of their computers. She said “because I’m not letting you into my office that’s why.”

Horrible. Just horrible. Little do they know I have a TV news segment about coupons and saving money — along with a blog. Maybe I’ll just share my poor Wal Mart experience with our viewers. (As if we all needed another reason to dislike that place!)

Do it! That’s horrible treatment. Our local walmart ALWAYS treats me like a criminal when I try to use (any) coupons there, I don’t go there very often at all, and I’ll totally bypass it if I do have coupons to use!

Erica- I think everybody has a story like that from someplace. Mine was at a Target, the manager was standing over the cashier like a hawk when she realized I had a stack of coupons. (I was shopping for vacation the next day). She voided my order twice because she didn’t like the fact the coupon came off, then she refused several coupons without sizes. When I showed her the Target coupon policy first she told me A) They had a right to reject any coupon they believed to be fake, then another mananger came over who told me my coupon policy was fake, yes fake, just openly fake, infact she pretty much screamed it. I left and went to another Target, got everything without a problem $180 in stuff for $12.86. So some of it depends on exactly what store you are at sadly. This is how I also chose my Rite Aids, very carefully.

Yeah, I guess it was just a matter of time before I’d run into that problem. I was so excited, because this was going to be my first overage ever — and that lady ruined it. LOL

        Erica-
I feel for you. I have given up on Rite Aids. I don’t have the time to go to a store and get rejected. I have tried all the stores in my area and have only had a good experience at one (once). I’m not sure who is responsible for hiring in my area but I diffidently see a trend. My favorite store is CVS. I have only had a few grumpy experiences and customer service bent over backwards to make it right. So I give my money to them. Walgreens is not bad but they don’t have constant enough sales to help roll over the RR. As far as Target I have good experience going to only one in my area. I have actually had them praise me for couponing! Walmart is a hit or miss in my book. Might try a trip for this coupon.

I came home the other day after having yet another bad experience with using coupons. My husband was so mad he called the store manger to complain & the manager gave us a $25 gift card. Don’t know if it did any good to complain but I felt better about getting a gift card.

The coupon was in the February 20th Redplum insert. Coupons are available from
coupon clipping services, trading sites and ebay.

I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and found this deal. I had no issues, I thought for sure they would try to lower the coupon value to down to just cover the item but it went through for the full $3. Glad to hear some other people found this deal but sorry to hear others frustrations. Good Luck

I did this last night at a Michigan Walmart. The cashier said that she saw no reason why she couldn’t do it, but she was going to call her manager over to make sure that it was ok to do because she didn’t want to get into trouble. The manager said that it was ok. I had 3 coupons and made a few dollars. I put the Purex in my bag for the pantry donations so everyone won. You might want to mention that the Purex is located by the Pharmacy in the sample/trial section. I looked in the cleaning aisle first.

No go in Denver. The head cashier spent 15 minutes talking to the manager and said there was no way they would take it, that they had never heard of such a policy. Plus, she said I’d only be able to use one coupon anyway “because it says one per purchase”. Sigh.
