Walgreens: Finish Electrasol Powerball Tabs Money Maker

January 2, 2011 by Tara Kuczykowski 53 Comments

I’m sure many of you were thrilled to see the hot $2.25/1 Finish Electrasol coupon in today’s paper. This makes for a money maker at Walgreens this week! I’m sure we’ll see more deals before it expires though.

Electrasol Powerball Tabs (20 ct.), $3.49
Get $1.50 RRs

$2.25/1 Finish Electrasol Quantum, Powerball Tabs, or Gelpacs, exp. 2/21/11 (SS 1/2/11)
$0.26 money maker after coupon!
(Thanks, Passion For Savings)

Note that the photo above is what I stockpiled last year when they released this great coupon. I grossly overestimated the amount of dishwashing detergent we use in a year, so we still have a pretty healthy amount left!

I’m new to this and wondering if I have 5 Electrasol coupons, do I use all 5 in a single transaction and will I get 5 seperate RR’s or do I use 1 coupon per transaction to gain individual RR..? Thanks in advance!

sarah — seperate transactions. You won’t get multi rrs on the same product in the same transaction, walgreens is good about allowing you to do multi transactions.

Wow! I haven’t done the “drugstore game” before but seeing this awesome deal I may just have to start. I bought 4 newspapers today, but haven’t clipped my coupons yet, so I am hoping that our paper had the $2.25/1 coupon in it as well. Thanks for sharing this deal with us!

@ Sarah don’t use them all at once, the ad says 1 RR’s printed per offer. Go back several times or with a second person to get two deals at once. But don’t try to use the RR coupon to purchase another electrasol or it will not print another one.

Yes, Tracy, that is right. I wish I had read somewhere or someone had told me not to use the electrasol RR on another electrasol. (It was even at a different store later in the day.) I lost out on one that way. It’s still a good deal either way, but next time I’ll know not to use a RR award to purchase the same product I got it from. :)

I know this is last years photo and I’m glad you are still using what you bought, but this photo made me sad. I visited 3 Walgreens today to try to buy 1 box with my coupon and the shelves were bare. I was told at 2 stores that 1 person wiped out the shelves shortly after opening. Walgreens is a low stock store and this type of behavior ruins a deal for everyone trying to save money. Very sad. :(

We all hate it when that happens, it’s too bad that some people are selfish, but I am sure that Tara isn’t one of “those” people. So don’t feel sad.

      Oh, that’s a shame, Jill — I do not advocate shelf-clearing at all. :(

The photo above was the result of multiple trips to do deals at several different stores over the course of the month that the coupon was valid. You can see the breakdown in the original post:

That is a problem in my area also. People buy them up and try to sell them. Good news though, last year many stores ended up having similar sales throughout the month. I was able to get a couple boxes from different stores. Maybe I didn’t get them for completely free, but .50 each made me happy.

May be you both could buy them from an online clipping service? If you didn’t get the q there, it may not be a popular item there at Wags so you may be able to still buy it when they come in the post. :)

You can get a rain check for the sale price but you will not get an RR for buying it later after the RR deal is over.

If anyone is lucky enough to live near a Harris Teeter that is doing Super Doubles AND that HT accepts RRs, bring the catalina! It will double because it starts with a 5! Turns this into a real MM! :D

That is true for some stores. Too bad my Harris Teeter picks things like that out and won’t double them.

i have changed my attitude about stores doing a limit 2 or limit 4 per person. because of shelf clearers. how selfish! i used to hate being limited, now i’m all for it so that everyone can get in on a good deal.

I used those gel packs in my dishwasher a year ago and it took months until it worked correctly again. They don’t dissolve completely in many dishwashers, I’m told. So losing out on the deal may actually be your GOOD fortune. I wouldn’t buy them again…

I agree with you there. We had problems with our office dw and the repair guy told us to stay away from them. He advocated using only powders.

I agree about the shelf clearers! People can be so rude and selfish when deals like these come up! I will check my local wag today. Thanks for the heads up! It is nice to see that Tara goes to different stores over the course of the sale, I do the same!

I should also point out that this coupon only comes out once a year which is why I purchased so many. I normally only stockpile what I’d need for the next 6 weeks or so since sales are so cyclical.

Thanks for the heads up on the gel. I don’t use gel ones but will tell you that since they took the phosphates out of the regular powder, the 3-in-1 packs are the only thing that takes that film off. Read that in SmartSource and it really does work

OMG! Did you really do 20 seperate transactions to get all the dish soap? It’s ashame Wags doesn’t make it a little bit easier on the couponers! Great job though! (:

the walgreens in my area has been clearing out alot of the john freida shampoos and conditioners …possibly for new packaging (?) they are marked $2.19 and with the 2$ off any john freida hair product from SS a week ago, that makes them only .19 each! Also they started carrying the travel size for .99 each and the 1$ off john freida coupon from the same paper you can get those for free. They don’t indicate a size on either coupon. yay! Also, they often have those 1$ off coupons laying around the store.
