Today I went to Walgreens to purchase the Huggies diapers and Crest toothpastes, and the manager told me it won’t print register reward if you use coupons, and I tried it and got no RR =( Is that true? When did Walgreens change the policy?

I was told the vaseline sheer infusion is not a monthy reward. I was told it was a weekly reward. idk I realy like it and was going to get some for my daughter. I bought it and it didn’t print they called the manager and that’s what he told me. Maybe where I live it was a weekly deal. I also didn’t get a chap stick rr.

I used coupons just yesterday and it printed out fine. I was under the impression that the only that that will keep it from printing the RR is if you use the same RR from the same deal. Then it won’t print. I have never heard of this before. I hope it is not true. Would sure wreck our deals.

    Cheryl,
I bought 3 vaselines (in separate transactions) in central CA two days ago and it printed just fine, but the chapstick didn’t print. Hard to tell with these monthly deals. I don’t know if there is any way to proove it is a “monthly” deal because it does not say it in the ad. Tara, do you know?

The Snickers “Fun Size” (11.18 ounce) candy bars will be 2 for $4. I know this because I was in yesterday and they were marked with a Walgreens “as advertised” tag. But someone jumped the gun because the tag gave 10/18-10/24 as the sale dates.

    Heads up! :-)

i wonder if they just push the off switch on the catalina machine when you pop out a coupon in stores like this as i never have an issue w them coming out when i use coupons.

I have never had a problem with using manufacturer’s coupons. I have always gotten my RR. I have spent sometimes only $0.76 and gotten $15 back in RR. The usual problem is if you are rolling a RR from a previous week and both the current item and the previous RR are from the same manufacturer (like Unilever), then no new RR will print out.

    Hi Michelle,

I just received the exact same message. I wish they would have told us the offer was no longer available BEFORE we gave all of our contact information!

I suppose there’s a chance they may replenish. If anyone gets this deal to work, please let us know!

Thanks Tara! I got some amazing deals today. It took me a while to check out because of all the coupons and RRs I was using. The guy who was in line behind me followed me out of the store and told me he didn’t mind waiting so long because he was impressed at how much I was able to bring my total down. The cashier told me she was going to start shopping with me. I referred them both to this site!

    Megan,
Yes, you can use 2 Walgreens coupons on the Riccola deal – I did it twice today. The first time, I used the BOGO coupon, the ad coupon, and the WAG Healthy savings book coupon (which doubled to apply to both), so I paid 50 cents for both. The second time, I just used the ad coupon and the Wag coupon and paid $2.

I was curious to know if anyone did the triaminic/theraflu deal this week. If you buy 3, you get $8 RR. So I bought 3, used the $2 off theraflu and $1.50 off triaminic coupons from their websites, and also the Healthy Savings book Walgreens coupons. The theraflu coupon went through no problem, however, for the Triaminic it beeped. The manager wouldn’t accept my wag coupon and said it wasn’t taking it. I bought the item pictured and have no idea why it wasn’t working, and was surprised he refused to take it since it was a Walgreens coupon. Has anyone else had this issue?

My daughter and I went to Walgreens and got the skippy peanut butter. We had manufactors coupons. We never used register rewards before and was taught a harsh lesson. We got 16 jars of skippy. She went first with 8 and paid 4.67 and got an $8 rr. She then did the next 8 plus a few other things and the total came up to $9.22 and she used her $8rr and expected another $8 rr to pop out. It didnt. We found out that if we use a rr to pay for another rr deal, we will not get the second rr. We now know how to properly use the rr. We should have had cashier ring up just peanut butter and paid cash and that way we would have got another $8rr and used the two we got to pay for our third transaction and would have spent $17.88 and could of used teh two $8 rr and would only have to pay $1.88. Oh well, you learn from your mistakes and we certainly learned from that experience. But we did get 16 jars of peanut butter for $1.34, which we will use for our cookies for christmas.

It seems to me that Walgreens needs to get on-board with a Corporate Coupon Policy. My last 2 visits have been so frustrating I’m ready to quit shopping there. Last week I tried to do the Quaker Oats deal and the Skippy deal – I had 17 total items in my transaction and only 9 coupons. We could not get the register to accept a single RR. The manager was so helpful and we split the transactions, and 20 minutes later no luck. The only logical explanation we could come up with was that the system was taking coupons that are $x/2 or BOGO and “applying the coupon to each item so it was crossed off as eligible for a match-up.” Even though it was frustrating, the manager was wonderful.

But today, I had the same problem at a different store when I went to do the Zantac, Glade and Triaminic deal. I added on 8 pencils to get the machine to take the RR, but the cashier took 1 and told me she couldn’t take any more or she would get in trouble. Equally frustrating experience compounded now by the cashier.

The RRs are printing just fine…I just don’t think one can actually redeem them toward anything. If I didn’t have so many, I’d call it quits today. I think once I figure out how to redeem these, I’m donating the rest…

CVS, Rite Aid and now even Target are so much simpler and their policies are clearly stated. At least you know what to expect in every store, no matter the town or state.

Walgreens is always a gamble – you hear it from many different people – it depends on the manager, the cashier, the register, the catalina…maybe even the alignment of the stars.

No deal (MM or not) is worth the aggrevation.

Thanks for letting me vent. My next letter should be to Walgreen’s corporate.

I have found that Register Rewards is much easier if you “keep it simple.” I walk 6 miles on most days and have 2 Walgreens stores within 3 miles of me. So, I incorporate my RR shopping into my walks. I shop every day and only purchase 1 or 2 items at a time. This way, it’s easy to make sure the RRs match up correctly, that I’m not mistakenly trying to roll RRs over into a product by the same manufacturer, and that I get full credit for my coupons/RRs.

I realize this isn’t an option for everyone. But if you have stores nearby, try breaking it up this way. You’ll be able to calculate more easily and you’ll also get some good exercise!

    Lindsey,
I did the Triaminic-Theraflu yesterday. Here is the breakdown of my transaction
1 Thera Flu Warming Nighttime Severe Cold & Cough $4.99
    1 Multi-Symptom Fever Triaminic $4.99
1 Night Time Cold & Cough Triaminic $4.99
    1 Zantac 150 24ct $8.99
    8 Halloween Pencils 8/$2
1 Sesame Street Beginners Sippy Cup
Used Wags in ad coupon for pencils -$1
Used Wags Healthy Savings for Thera Flu -$2
Used Wags Healthy Savings twice for Triaminic -$4
    Used Zanatc iq -$5
    Used TheraFlu iq -$2
Used 2 Triaminc mq’s -$3 each or -$6 total (found these at Dr’s office week before)
    Total with tax $11.15
Received $8 RR for TheraFlu & Triaminic and $9 RR for Zantac
Profit with RR’s after tax $5.85

I made sure to have enough pencils as fillers to cover each coupon that I used and to have one filler to use without a coupon against the Wags in ad coupon for the pencils, just in case. HTH

I did the Theraflu deal just fine. Got three boxes of Theraflu for $5 each, used 3 $2/off printables and 1 Healthy Savings $2/1 which tripled to apply to all three. And it printed off the $8 RR. Sweet.

I got $5 in RR this weekend buy gum and Ragu sauce. So my plan of attack for this week is to go and purchase the Reese’s candy bars for free, the Sure for Men deodorant for free… and the Gillette Fusion MVP razor. After using my $5 RR I should get $6 back in RR and spend only $1 OOP. Then another transaction I’m going to get the Zantac and use the $6 RR and spend only $2.99 OOP. I’m hoping it will work and there’s no products that are the same man. as last week’s RR so I can get them all.

Ok it worked! After much headache and ringing up the transaction 50 ways and buying an 88 cent candy bar that I didn’t want… I finally got free Sure for Men deodorant… and a Gillette razor for $2 (cause I had to buy something extra to make it work). Then when I got the $6 RR back from the razor on a seperate transaction I paid only $1.99 (after RR and $1 man. coupon) for Zantac. Now I have a $9 RR and only spent $4 tonight which I think is decent.

The Glade register rewards is $1 not $2. I just got mine. I also picked up the gem of a deal on Triaminic at 3/4.99 minus the $2 Healthy Savings coupon and the 1.50/1 and 3.00/2 coupons from Sunday’s paper 10/18 and the $8 RR. That’s 3 FREE plus $3.53 overage.

At Walgreens, if I buy 4 items using in-ad coupon only (no manufacturer coupon), does it count as using 1 coupon or 4 coupons?

Ok, I wrote to corporate about my experience with the Traiminic deal and got a call from the store manager with an apology. Apparently, the Traiminic coupon wasn’t activated in their system and they were working on it. I see it worked for Michelle, so I am going to try again. Maybe it’s just an issue on the thin strips?? We’ll see…

Also, for those interested in the Zantac – there is a $2 coupon in the 75 version (not 150…I checked) good for $2 off the 75 version. It’s not labled on the box, so it may be a risk to try. I bought 3 boxes (1 at CVS weeks ago, and 2 at different Wag’s on different days) and they all had it. If you are already buying it, it may be worth it to open your box and check. I used all my $5 ones, so this is a nice perk on additional ones since I use it already and it’s a money maker either way! Hope this helps!
