Walgreens $5/$20 Coupon Scenario, 10/24 and 10/25

October 24, 2008 by Tara Kuczykowski 20 Comments

Well, what do you know! Walgreens pulled a fast one. Not only did they release the $5/$20 coupon on Coupons.com, they also released it on SmartSource.com and Walgreens.com. Perhaps they’re trying to gain a wider audience? Either way, it’s a new trend to watch, and we’ll see where it goes. Now why didn’t CVS think of this?

Are you looking for a good way to use this coupon? I was hoping there would be some good double-dip deals, but unfortunately it looks like these may be a thing of the past.  Many of the coupons that are in both the October and November EasySaver Rebate guides have the same bar codes on them, so it’s not likely that Walgreens will honor them both.  We’ll watch and wait while a few brave souls attempt to use them tomorrow, but in the meantime, I’ve created this scenario from just the regular weekly deals and one November monthly deal.

BUY Fusion Power or Venus Embrace Razor System at $8.99
BUY 3 Triaminic at $4.99
BUY Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold at $4.99
BUY Lysol Freshmatic at $5.99 (November ESR)
BUY Russell Stover Candy at $0.39

USE $4/1 Gillette Fusion Razor, exp. 10-31-08 (P&G 9/28/08)
USE (3) $2/1 Triaminic printable
USE Lysol Neutra Air FreshMatic Starter Kit, exp. 11-3-08 (SS 9/7/08) or Lysol Neutra Air FreshMatic Starter Kit, exp. 12-8-08 (SS 10/12/08)
USE Russell Stover in-ad coupon

Out of Pocket $15.33
RRs* Earned $16.99
ESRs** Earned $5.00
EARN $6.66 on this easy transaction!!!

*RRs are Register Rewards. It’s a coupon that will print with your receipt that is good towards your next purchase at Walgreens.

**ESRs are EasySaver Rebates. Learn all about them in my Walgreens 101!

Have fun shopping!!!

Doesn’t the total have to be $20 AFTER coupons?

Yes, Stephanie, you’re correct. The subtotal does have to be $20 after coupons to use the $5/$20 coupon. The OOP above is your total after coupons and after the $5/$20 has been deducted.

Thanks for these great ideas. I am using a couple of them in my purchase for this weekend. I have posted a few different things and a different combination. I love your site!

I learned today how easy it is to use these Easy Saver Rebates. Doing them online takes away the hassel of having to mail them!

Another deal is the Tylenol Cold which is on sale for $4.99 this week and if you buy 3 you will get $5.00 RR. There is a $1.50/1 coupon in October’s Easy Saver as well as several $1.00/1 coupons that were in inserts recently. Make each package $2.49. After the $5.00 RR you are spending $2.47 OOP for the 3 packages. that’s a pretty good deal on cold medicine!

How do you print 3 of the coupons below?
    USE (3) $2/1 Triaminic printable

They only allow two. Do you use more than one email addy?

I think you should be able to print two from another email adddress, but if not you may have to see if you can print a third from another computer.
