Walgreens: 12/16-12/19 Sale Deals + Money Maker

December 15, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski 28 Comments

Walgreens

Or maybe that should say “deal” because there’s really not much of interest in the 3-day sale this week. Really the only thing worthwhile is they’re offering the $5 Register Rewards with any $25 purchase which will only be valid Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Heather from NWA Deals shared a great money-maker scenario to take advantage of this:

Buy (1) Complete Multipurpose Solution at $7.99
Buy (1) Huggies Diapers at $8.99
Buy (1) Gillette Fusion Razor at $8.99

Use $1/1 Complete Multipurpose Solution, exp. 12-31-09 (RP 10/25/09)
Use $1.50/1 Huggies Diapers, exp. 12-31-09 (SS 11/15/09)
Use $1/1 Huggies Walgreens coupon (Children’s Activity Book)
Use $4/1 Gillette Fusion Razor, exp. 12-31-09 (P&G 11/29/09)
Submit for $0.75 Caregivers Marketplace Rebate
Better than FREE after coupons, RRs, and rebate!

Check out the other Walgreens weekly deals for more great bargains this week!

This whole “rolling rewards” confuses me. If I were to buy a pack of huggies pull-ups today, receive my $2RR, is it possible to go back tomorrow and use the $2RR on a pack of Huggies diapers and recieve another $2 of RR? or am I totally misunderstanding the concept of RR’s?

I don’t have anyone to put in diapers other than my dogs.

    This weeks deals?

Ms. Drummer, basically you can’t use a Register Reward that you earned from a particular deal on a future transaction for the same deal. Sometimes this also seeps over into transactions from the same manufacturer.

So if you earn RRs buying Colgate, you couldn’t use them on another Colgate transaction and earn more RRs. However, you could use RRs earned buying Colgate to purchase Kellogg’s and earn RRs for that.

    Does that make sense?

    Hey Ms Drummer –

If you purchase huggies and receive a $2 RR – you may use that to purchase anything in the store. If you chose to purchase another pack of huggies with that RR, you will NOT receive another RR back. That is not rolling RR, because the system will NOT give you another one (it’s pretty smart)

Now, you win big by rolling your RR – you do this by purchasing items (other than huggies) that generates additional RR (and you pay using your huggies RR).

Here is a scenario. You want to buy these today:

Pack of huggies $6.00 (get 2 RR back) (forgive me, I dont know how much diapers cost lol)
Pack of tampons $3.00 (get 2 RR back)

    Transaction 1)
Huggies, pay $6.00 OOP, get $2 rr back.

    Transaction 2)
Tampons $3.00 – pay using $2 huggies RR, and pay $1.00 OOP difference. – you’ll get $2 RR back!

At this point, you can purchase another pack of huggies, and pay using the $2 RR from the tampons, etc, etc. That is called rolling them.

Just keep track of your RR – and be aware of which products they came from, so you don’t accidentally purchase the same item with its own register reward (or it won’t give you another!)

    I hope that made sense!

I also heard that you cannot use the $5/25 RR that you get back this time. At one point, these DID roll, but they do not now.

Also, as far as rolling goes, the hard and fast rule is that you cannot use an RR to get the same exact item and expect to get the RR back. However, this has not been the case on several items lately. The monthly Zooth toothbrush $5RR is rolling. Another P&G item was also rolling. It seems like several P&G items have been rolling lately. Maybe even the razor deal? It did last month, but not really sure this month.

The $5 walgreens gift RR from the $25+ transactions do not roll into each other. Took me once to figure it out, but also it’s posted on the ads stating “limit one offer” which usually means if you use that RR to try another of the same deal you will not get a new RR for the duplicated deal. So, I had 3 of these gift RR and decided to roll them into other RR items before the midweek sale started so I could use them to do a scenerio with $25 worth of items (before coupons).

BTW, even if you spend more than $25 and try using the Walgreens Gift $5 RR, the new one will not print. I had a cart of items over $30 the gift RR didn’t print. Nice manager voided the transaction and let me get my Gift RR back and I used other funds/RR to pay…

Good explanations ladies! RR was very confusing to me for a while. I think the easiest thing (but isn’t as fun all at once) when you’re getting started is just to buy the items you want for the week and save your RRs for next week when the same items won’t be on sale. I had some really nice ones from last week which paid for my huggies this week. And now I have some $2 RR to use next week on whatever items I fancy.

The Children’s Activity Book coupons can NOT be used on SALE items. Please be careful using them.

Nice! My brain hasn’t been up to putting great scenarios like this together, so I really appreciate it. Darn, knew I should have bought some Gillette Fusion coupons earlier this month…

Vanessa, I have been in Walgreens three times this week and used my children’s activity book coupon for $1 off Huggies each time. The first time the cashier wanted to take it from me, saying she had to put all the coupons in the drawer to be accounted for. When I pointed out that it’s a walgreens instant value coupon she let me keep it (another cashier backing me helped).
So yes, you can use the children’s activity book on sale items. Wouldn’t be worth it otherwise.

There is a new sheet of coupon at walgreens that just came out this week. It is actually 3 sheets of coupons. Loook for these coupons to match up with sales this week on hair clipper that are 33 percent off. Also there is a 2.oo off snuggie coupon. The coupon list is pretty long and every walgreens should have the coupons. But check it out this week to match these coupons up with some of this weeks sales.

I use my childrens activity coupons on sale items all the time as well. As they say.. YMMV at each store.

I dont pull my coupons off the sheet either.. I just hand them the whole thing & point to the one I want them to scan.. same thing with all the books.. I havent surrendered any Wags coupons other than the circular Qs in months.

Thanks ladies!!! I didnt think you could use the RR on the same item you received them but so many times I read these posts about people rolling RR’s, so it confused me. But I do want to thank those as well for the info about pulling the WAGS Q’s out their books. I always do it and now I know better and will not be surrendering the Q’s. You ladies are GREAT!!

Another note on the RR’s: you can’t use a RR to get an RR if it is the same MANUFACTURER/COMPANY. So whatever products P&G (or whoever) makes and gives you a RR you can’t use the RR to get another RR IF it is the same company. Make sense? For example, the Wythe company makes several products (Robitussin I think, and those heat wraps – forgot the brand!- just to list some).

Knowing this really helps to know how to roll the RR’s.

    Vanessa,

You should talk to your manager or try a different store, if there is one close by. I have been using the children’s book coupons on sale items for months now. (ie. bandaids, toothbrushes, diapers) All on sale, and I don’t think the coupons say anything about not being valid on sale items, do they? They have all scanned fine too.

Went and did the pamper deal today. And boy did I have trouble with the 4 RR printing. They tried telling me you don’t receive RRs when you use MF coupons. One said I been a manager for years here and you don’t receive RR when using anything that discounts the items. Thank God I took my Wednesday ad. to show them. Anybody else having this problem.

I only did one transaction today, I got one pack of huggies (8.99), used my $1.50 Mfr Q, and $5RR that I earned at the end of last week. That was the best I could do, since I used my WAGs childrens book q already, So I got a pack for 2.49….not bad! I havent decided what I will do next, since I plan to obtain more $5RR for a $25 tomorrow. Sandra, Ive never had problems using q’s when getting RR. I wonder how many times that manager has done that to people unbeknownst to them….its important to know the policies, just like how I surrendered my activity book q.

Yeah my coupon says off regular price, and the manager said I couldn’t use it. The $5 RR I heard doesn’t roll. If anyone gets it work please tell us! That would be amazing!

I found out this morning if you are a fan of Walgreens on facebook there is a 15% of coupon you can print out (it is 20% off of walgreens brand merchandise) I believe it is only good today and tomorrow. It is found under the fan offer tab. Hope this is useful.
