Text Message Your Way to Freebies with ShopText

February 15, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski 51 Comments

ShopText Text Message FreebiesDid you know that you can text message for freebies? Maybe you’ve seen other posts around and have been a little skeptical, but read on to see how you can get some hot freebies by sending a simple text message from your cell phone.

Of course, please keep in mind, standard text messaging rates apply per your cell phone provider contract.

You can save yourself a few messages by first setting up your account online at ShopText.

  • Register your cell phone number.
  • Enter in the code that is text messaged to you.
  • Fill out your address information. Credit card info is not necessary.

After that you’re ready to text for freebies! Magazines often have ShopText-enabled advertisements.  You just text the keyword listed to 467467, and you’ll receive a confirmation.  Occasionally they might ask you to reply with to an additional question.

You can even check the status of you freebies under the My ShopText tab.  It lists any requests from the past three months as well as the date requested. I love this feature!

And because I’m sure some of you may have no idea how to send a text message, here’s a great text messaging tutorial I found.

I have a code for Carrabbas has to be used within 3 days i believe. I was there last week and they have a new dessert (some kind of lemon bread pudding) and at the bottom in tiny writing there is a message about signing up for the Amici Club for discounts and offers from Carrabbas so I sent my text and got an immediate response for a free bread pudding dessert, the message just said to show it (the text) to the server, i did and got my free dessert. Anyway here it is text AMICI to 82672, like i said i did this while i was eating dinner.

The Food Lion offers are over now – I tried and got a text back that they ended 12/24. That may be why you didn’t get a text back. Another great place for these offers is thru Seventeen Magazine. I signed up for the free digital copy and have gotten a few things already – pedicure kit, a Clearasil promo bag (that had tons in it), hair stuff, etc. A quick Google search pulls up other offers too.

I just replied with “coupon” it requested my zip code, followed by a choice of supermarket chain (mines were ralphs, vons, food4less) then prompt me for my card no, then said coupon has been tagged to my card. i also replied with “sample” and it asked me for my email address then it said that my sample would be shipped soon. My suggestion, reply with code words such as these, you’d be surprised what you get in the mail. Not too long ago I replied with “sample” and to my amazement I received a full-sized Olay exfoliating cleanser. Who knows what sample I’ll be recieving in the mail nor what coupon has been attached to my Ralphs card. Good luck to everyone!

They’re referring to the standard message rates for your mobile contract. ShopText will not charge you anything.
