Huh – did you say Crisco Olive Oil?
Crisco certainly isn’t the first brand that comes to my mind when I think “olive oil,” so I’m assuming it’s the same for you all. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it’s actually quite good. I’ve been successfully substituting it for my more expensive olive oils over the past few weeks.
Here’s just one example of the tasty recipes that you can create with it.
Mediterranean Salad

Salad:
1 pint grape tomatoes (use a mixture of red and yellow for added interest), halved
1 6-ounce container Bocconcini (small fresh mozzarella balls), drained
1 paper thin slice proscuitto ham, finely chopped
1/3 cup pitted kalamata olives, drained
1 tablespoon capers, drained
Dressing:
1/4 cup white wine vinegar
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Pinch of sugar
3/4 cup Crisco Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 tablespoons chopped chives
2 tablespoons chopped fresh oregano
Place the grape tomatoes, bocconcini, proscuitto, olives and capers in a large bowl; set aside.
In a small bowl, whisk together the white wine vinegar, mustard, black pepper and sugar. Slowly add the Crisco Extra Virgin Olive Oil in a steady stream, whisking while pouring; whisk until dressing is well blended. Whisk in the chives and oregano. Pour dressing over salad; gently toss to combine. Refrigerate, covered, several hours or overnight to allow flavors to develop, stirring occasionally. Season with additional black pepper if desired. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the tomato mixture to a serving bowl. Garnish with fresh oregano sprigs, if desired. Serve.
Yummy!

I use olive oil for everything-the only other oil I even keep in the pantry is peanut oil, and I don’t use that very often. I don’t buy vegetable or canola oil…I just like the taste of olive oil better. If I were to need to fry something in a lot of oil, I would probably go out & buy another oil, but olive oil is my go-to-oil for everything I make! thanks!

I use it for all of my sauteeing needs. The only time I don’t use it is for potatoes because of it’s fruitiness.

If I’m cooking or reheating just about anything in a pan, I’m using oive oil. Meat, fish, veggies, tofu — they all call for olive oil!

I guess I am not the tremendously creative cook. I basically use olive oil to stir fry or for saute’ing. I don’t cook a whole lot, but I would also use the oil for occasional oil/vinegar mixtures to add to various types of salads.

The first thing I think of when you mention olive oil is fresh zucchini cooked in a small amount of it – YUMMO!! Some folks dream of candy, I dream of zucchini!! (maybe a corkscrew loose somewhere).
I have NEVER won anything – other than a scratch off lotto ticket – BUT THAT DOESN’T STOP ME FROM TRYING!!
Thanks for the opportunity!!

I use olive oil all the time. And have been using the Crisco olive oil recently too, and really like it. I mainly use oil to sautee, for marinating, and for dressings.

I use substitute Criso Olive Oil in every recipe I make. My son is allergic to certain things so I have to find a way so he can eat things too. I make Gluten free muffins and add Crisco Olive Oil and it is great. I have high cholestral too so I need to watch what I eat. Love the Crisco Olive Oi.
