Huh – did you say Crisco Olive Oil?
Crisco certainly isn’t the first brand that comes to my mind when I think “olive oil,” so I’m assuming it’s the same for you all. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it’s actually quite good. I’ve been successfully substituting it for my more expensive olive oils over the past few weeks.
Here’s just one example of the tasty recipes that you can create with it.
Mediterranean Salad

Salad:
1 pint grape tomatoes (use a mixture of red and yellow for added interest), halved
1 6-ounce container Bocconcini (small fresh mozzarella balls), drained
1 paper thin slice proscuitto ham, finely chopped
1/3 cup pitted kalamata olives, drained
1 tablespoon capers, drained
Dressing:
1/4 cup white wine vinegar
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Pinch of sugar
3/4 cup Crisco Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 tablespoons chopped chives
2 tablespoons chopped fresh oregano
Place the grape tomatoes, bocconcini, proscuitto, olives and capers in a large bowl; set aside.
In a small bowl, whisk together the white wine vinegar, mustard, black pepper and sugar. Slowly add the Crisco Extra Virgin Olive Oil in a steady stream, whisking while pouring; whisk until dressing is well blended. Whisk in the chives and oregano. Pour dressing over salad; gently toss to combine. Refrigerate, covered, several hours or overnight to allow flavors to develop, stirring occasionally. Season with additional black pepper if desired. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the tomato mixture to a serving bowl. Garnish with fresh oregano sprigs, if desired. Serve.
Yummy!

I use it for almost everything, marinades, salad dressings, sauteeing, frying, you name it!
Melissa
I use it on small red potatoes baked in the oven. I am also a new subscriber.

I use olive oil to fry and saute everything – fried chicken, chicken-fried steak, sauted chicken and vegies over pasta. I’ve even fried beignets (french donuts) in it. Rub it on veggies before grilling and baked potatoes before baking.

I use olive oil when I make Chicken Parmasean. It makes the sauce taste so good!

I crisp my hubby’s chicken cutlets in olive oil. I use ONLY olive oil and GOOD balsamic Vinegar, salt and pepper on salads! Instead of butter on breads we dip our bread in olive oil. I hear that heating olive oil destroys its good properties so we drizzle it ON our food!!!

I want to say that I use olive oil regularly but I only use it in recipes that call for it, because it’s kind of pricey! After reading through the comments, I’m wondering if it’s worth it…I’ll have to try to use it more often.

I use olive oil instead of vegetable oil all the time. I don’t bake – so that is an easy trade. As part of weight watchers you need 2tbsp of a healthy oil per day.

I not only use olive oil in all of my dishes….but it is an excellent moisturizer for my daughter’s hair. It virtually eliminated her cradle cap!

I just signed up for your emails yesterday. I use olive oil in my boxed rice or noodle mixes in place of butter. I have to try using olive oil when I make my homemade pizza dough as someone just suggested, never thought to use it instead of canola oil.

We use olive oil bascially in everything you can use it in.You can even use it at night before bedtime. Wash and dry your face thoroughly, put a light coating all over your face and neck(avoid) the eyes, and go to sleep.
You will have more radiant, smoother, and softer skin.

I’m Cuban, I didn’t know there was any other kind of oil until I started shopping for myself when I got married:) We basically sautee onions, peppers and garlic as a “sofrito” for every meal we make.

I use it over veggies before I stir fry them. I hear the oil retains most of the health benfits this way, versus heating up the oil in the wok first.

Our favorite way to use olive oil is grilling fresh veggies.
