FREE Kashi Cereal CupsTarget carries small single-serve Kashi Cereal cups for $1. Pair these with the $1 off Kashi Target printable (expires 8/8/09), and you’ve got yourself some FREE Kashi cereal!

I did this deal with the Cheerios yesterday and the cashier said “Um, I don’t think you can use these because it makes the item free.” I explained that the coupon didn’t state a size requirement and she still seemed hesitant but scanned them and looked really annoyed. She didn’t look at me for the rest of the transaction. Has anyone else ever had a problem like this?

Lindsey – when she scanned the coupon, did it automatically adjust the price of the cereal? If so, then there’s nothing to worry about except a negative vibe from a cashier who probably was embarrassed that she was wrong and/or worried about what her manager might say about the coupon.

Lindsey, it seems like I always have problems using coupons at Target, especially if it makes the item free. I would just carry the coupon policy with you because I think a lot of times, the cashiers do not know the coupon policy.

Laura, what if the coupon doesn’t automatically adjust? Shouldn’t they have to adjust it for you?

Thanks! My daughter just starting eat this cereal and single serving sizes would be great for traveling!
Oh, and I have problems with my Target taking coupons, too. I just go to the service counter or call customer service. I’ve gotten great service over the phone. Usually that takes care of the problem. I carry the coupon policy with me, too. I seem to have a problem every other visit. Last time they forgot to use my coupons.

I just went to Target.com to try to find the coupon policy so I could print it out and keep it in my binder…AKA ‘my life’ as my husband calls it…and couldn’t find it. Any help?

    THANKS!

She actually scanned the first coupon, it went through, and then she told me that she didn’t think she could use it. So I think she was mad, too, because it was already kind of late to deny me.

Jenna, I don’t think they have it posted online. You can find a copy of it at the following link or email customer service to get a copy of it.

So, do these coupons scan through without any problems or do they “beep”??? Thanks everyone?

Since the cereal is $1 and the coupon is for $1 off, there’s no adjustment to be done. I’m assuming it scans without beeping, but I haven’t tried it personally yet. Hopefully someone else can answer for sure!

I did it today. I got 3 free. The cashier looked at my strangely after the total was $0.o0. I just smiled and said, “I got these coupons from Target.com. I promise I’m not misusing the system. It wouldn’t have gone through if I am not allowed to use that coupon on the cereal cups.” She just looked puzzled at me as I walked away.

Target is FAMOUS for getting annoyed when you use coupons…especially when the item comes up FREE or close to free.
I always look for SPECIFIC cashiers when I have coupons because I know which cashiers actually KNOW THEIR POLICY and are friendly when I check out. There’s one gal in particular I always look for because she’s “on my side”…she’ll be like, “WOW, what a great shopping trip for you!” LOL!

I got 8 of these for free today and I also picked up 2 of the all small and mighty trial size my total was $.04. The coupons didn’t beep and I actually got a cashier who was just as excited about the deal as I was!

My last trip to Target was awful! A lot of the coupons didn’t have size restrictions and the cashier said he couldn’t take them b/c the register wouldn’t allow him to. What a pain! I’m willing to give this offer a try only because the coupon is a Target printable. They should honor it no matter if the machine beeps because it’s something that their company put up for us consumers to use.

I’m afraid to even try this at my Target. Last time I tried using the Juicy Juice coupons I had , the cashier looked like she wanted to vomit because I reminded her that she forgot to scan them.

I used 5 of the Target Kashi coupons today. No beeping and no problems. I do find that if I purchase a few filler items to keep my total from being $0 the cashiers tend to be friendlier & I have fewer problems.

Melody James and Amanda – I know exactly what you mean. There’s one cashier that I adore at Target because she’s friendly, knows the policy, and knows how to work the cash register to push the coupons through. She was excited last week when I bought the Degree deoderants and body mists and said “Wow, you only owe me 78 cents! Nice!” It’s difficult to find a coupon-friendly cashier anywhere, but this is especially true at Target.

So true about finding the right cashier… I scored 6 of them today along with 2 of the Honey Nut Cheerios cereal cups and 2 travel size Vaseline lotions! I <3 this site!

“Laura, what if the coupon doesn’t automatically adjust? Shouldn’t they have to adjust it for you?”

Bianca – it depends on the coupon. In the case of the Kashi cereal, it pictures the large box of Kashi cereal but it doesn’t specify a specific size. Also, the Target Corporate Coupon Policy doesn’t specify a particular policy of accepting or declining coupons that beep at the register. Therefore, I would assume that they should accept the coupon even if it beeps unless the coupon description specifically prohibits the item.

I seem to have better luck with coupons when I use the express lane. Lately I’ve had cashiers who are great with the K1 button! I’ve only had trouble with one cashier who didn’t want to take multiple Target coupons so I avoid her line now.

David – if they say they can only accept one coupon per transaction, then just ask to ring 4 separate transactions! :)
