Target: Exclusive Home Mailers

September 14, 2010 by Beth @ In Good Cents 44 Comments

Since recently including many of the Target Home Mailers in the weekly Target deals, I’ve been getting e-mails and questions about where to get these coveted mailers.  Well, I have some bad news.  Target Corporate sends the home mailers to randomly selected zip codes within a certain mile radius of of their stores.  That means their is no sure way to make the list.  However, I do know that, like with many things, if you don’t use them, you’ll lose them.

While many theories fly around often, from making a purchase in the photo center or creating a gift registry to getting a Target Red Card, none of them are a 100% sure way to get on the exclusive list.  However,  I did a little digging and a source of mine at Target Corporate recently hinted that almost everyone, if not everyone, who makes a purchase online gets added to the mailing list.

While I don’t get the mailers, my local Target does sometimes have older home mailers or coupon booklets available in-store.  Sometimes I find them at the pharmacy, while other times they’ll be near the bakery, deli, cash register, or customer service, so keep your eyes open while shopping.  Until then, you’ll just have to cross your fingers that you  make the list.

If you’ve made a purchase online, do you get the coveted home mailers?  We’d love to know, since many of us long to be on the list too!

Don’t forget to check out this week’s Target Deals and the Ongoing Target Deals for more opportunities to save.

I have been getting Target’s mailers for months now. Not sure how I made it on the list. Trying to think back on if I have ordered online and I don’t think I have. Thats not fair that everyone can’t get them.

I do get the mailer and have made purchases online. I have not made a purchase in the photo center, created a gift registry or gotten a Target Red Card so you may be on to something!

I’ve ordered online but don’t get the mailers… although at my old house I got the mailers they just weren’t addressed to me.. I guess the person that lived there before me somehow made it on the secret list… :)

We had a baby registry with Target and we get booklets every few months…I have also bought things on line from them. Not sure how I ended up on the list, but used a bunch of coupons today with my manufacturers coupons and cut my bill in half (saving over 16 bucks!)

I’ve ordered a few things from target.com and did start receiving these coupon books in the mail. But they also opened a brand new Target not too far from our brand new house at the time we moved in several years ago… and it was about then that we started receiving the coupons and made target.com purchases. So who knows?

I have been receiving the coupon mailers over the last 3-4 months. I just received my fourth one. I have never ordered from Target online, do not have a red card, and have not made a registery since 1997. I did make photo cards there last December, but I made them, did not place an order.
I wondered if it is because I’m such a frequent customer using the same credit card!

The coupons very from being all of the Up and Up products, to any other brands.

I too was discouraged by not receiving mailings once my little one got past the baby stage I stopped receiving them (we had done a Baby Registry at Target). So I sent a very nice email to Target about it, saying that I really did spend a good deal of money at their store and that the Target coupons were a great incentive to shop at SuperTarget versus other grocery stores. Well I never received an official response but I’ve gotten every mailer since then and have been “on the list”! So I’m happy and not complaining at all! Try an email to Target with your address :) Can’t hurt!

I have bought furniture from Target.com twice (spending over $100 each time) and I DO get the mailers! (I do not have a target red card, I do not use the photo center at target and I have never had a Target gift registry).

I got one today-I ordered online at Christmas last year so maybe that counted. I also have reported trouble using coupons at Target and perhaps that is why I get them. I also have a Target red card but haven’t used it in years. Other than that I do have some extended warranty things through Target.

I have never done any of those things and i have only received one mailer along time ago. I called to see why I didn’t get anymore and they told me you have to have a redcard to get them. My friend has one i told them and she never gets them. They didn’t know what to say to that.

Ya, its frustrating. I have been ordering online from Target for years now and regularly. But I have never received one of these books.

I DID however get a bunch of coupons when I signed up for my Baby Registry with them, so that is one way to get some. But it was just for baby coupons for personal care items, breast pumps, nursing tank, baby clothes, diapers and stuff like that, and they were a few dollars off each thing.

I sent an email to Target.com requesting the coupon mailers and this is their response:

Thanks for asking about receiving coupons from Target.
At Target, we use a variety of methods for determining mailing lists. Here are a couple of easy things you can do to receive special offers from Target:
    – Visit http://www.target.com and sign up for exclusive e-mail offers and news
    – Apply for a REDCARD to receive special bill inserts or direct mail
We appreciate hearing about ways you’re looking to save even more at Target.

    Sincerely,

I started receiving them when a new Target opened in my neighborhood. I’ve never ordered online. I may have used the photo center – can’t remember, but it would have been a long time ago. Never done a gift registry.

I do not get them either. I have ordered online before, have created a baby registry back in 2007 and just got a baby coupon book once this year. Of course I get it now that our son is 3 and I don’t need it, lol. Thankfully have a new niece and nephew. We have the Target Visa card and the debit card also.

I had my baby registry (for twins!) @ Target, bought cribs, car seats, clothing, etc. online, shop in the store weekly, have a Red Card and use it constantly—but I have never received a mailer.

I don’t think I’ve ever done anything to receive the mailers however target is only about a mile from my house so that might be why.. At the beginning of each school year I receive a student edition which has some great coupons, I’m not exactly sure how they know I’m a student though…

I have a Target Red Card & get a ton of the mailers. Beginning in Oct, those with a Target Red Card will save 5% on almost all purchases. The Red Debit Card works just like your regular debt card would (no interest or annual payments) so it is really worth it.
