Swag Bucks: Earn Cash Via Prepaid Mastercard

August 20, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski 12 Comments

Search & Win

Fantastic news – now you can redeem your Swag Bucks for a gift card that you can spend just about anywhere! Just 135 Swag Bucks will earn you a $10 Prepaid Mastercard.

I recently purchased an Amazon Kindle with GCs that I earned from Swag Bucks, and now I’ve started banking them for Christmas shopping. What a great way to start stretching our holiday budgets!

What is Swag Bucks?

Basically it’s a site that allows you to earn great prizes such as iPhones, iPods, concert tickets, gift cards, and more just for using them to search the Internet. For example, an Amazon.com eGift card is only 45 Swag Bucks!

Why not get paid for something you’re already doing anyhow? And don’t worry about the quality of the searches – Swag Bucks is powered by Google. Plus, they often offer special Swag Codes for additional points as well, so it’s not hard to rack up enough points to redeem often!

How do I sign up?

It’s super easy! Just go to Swagbucks and fill out your information. You’ll receive 3 points just for registering to get you started.

Tips for maximizing your Swag Bucks earnings:

  • Download one of the Swag Bucks browser plugins to earn for the searches you normally do.
  • Follow @SwagBucks on Twitter for updates on new Swag Codes. (enter these in the left-hand column on your Swag Bucks account page)
  • Read the Swag Bucks blog for updates on new features as well as info on Swag Codes.
  • Shop through Swag Bucks to earn SB on purchases.

For additional tips listen to the Money4Moms: Earn With Swag Bucks BTR segment that Mercedes and I did a few months ago – but be sure to register first!

I don’t understand how everyone makes so many swagbucks. The most I’ve ever gotten was $5 at once and that was right after I first opened my account. It never fails $1 a day. I’m not getting anywhere fast as this rate.

Are there certain sites that offer the swagbucks or is it just randomly during the day one of your searches will reward you? I like the idea though! Live search did something similar a while back but they had nothing really useful.

LL – It is random. They even say that doing more searches will not earn you more. I’d say that you’ll earn 1-3 per day with regular searching. One tip that has made me almost all of mine is: Utilize a ‘search’ when going to a website – even if you already know the address. For example, when I wanted to come here, instead of just typing in http://www.dealseekingmom.com, I did a search for ‘deal seeking mom’ & clicked on the resulting link. If you use Int. Explorer, change the search box in the top of the browser (above the ‘home’ button) to Swag Bucks search engine. This way you’ll remember to search instead when you are going to type in a web address.

Also, the swag bucks widget is a good place to check. It will tell you if there is a code available & give you a clue where to look (i.e. the SB blog, their facebook page, the email newsletter).

LL – becky is right on in how she searches for websites she already goes to. the most i’ve ever gotten is $3 at one time. i did manage to collect 5 in one day from various searches. i’ve been doing swagbucks for about 2 weeks and am almost to 45 bucks. (that’s a the cost of a $5 amazon.com gift c ard.)

a good thing to keep in mind when claiming any sort of points, whether it’s swagbucks or credit card points, is how many points you’re paying per dollar. for instance, the $10 gift card deal seeking mom mentioned above costs 135 swag bucks.
    135/10 = 13.5 points per buck

the amazon gift card is 45 swagbucks for a $5 card
    45/5 = 9 points per buck

so the amazon card “costs” less.

just wanted to point that out. good luck if you decide to sign up!

Hey there. That pre-pay card is good. I still prefer the Amazon vouchers because you get more for your buck and the pre-paid card is only available for US residents :(
Anyway I love Swag Bucks! It’s going to help loads at xmas!

This is a pretty good article, though about 2 yrs old, alot has changed on Swag Bucks!! I joined sometime last year and left it alone, but starting this week I had around 300 bucks, now as of Friday morn, 4 days later I now have 907 Swag Bucks! The key is the referrals though I don’t have any yet! But I’m working it and plan on getting a TV or something nice from Amazon…lol!!

    Thanx
