I haven’t tried it yet, but a reader of mine said she used her milk coupon in a separate transaction and it automatically scans as a $4.50 coupon, so she got $2.50 overage!

Thanks, Andrea! Safeway doesn’t double $1 coupons though, do they? This isn’t a local store for me, so I’m not well-versed on their policies.

My ad only shows Cheerios and Trix on sale. Do you have a different ad?

Cheri – In store the Cocoa Puffs and Total cereal were also 3/$6, there may have been another but I do remember those for sure.

I just went to Safeway (in Maryland) and bought 3 boxes of Cheerios with coupons. My .55 coupon was doubled. Also, the cashier scanned some sort of coupon for me and told me to pick up one more box of Cheerios for an additional .50. (My receipt showed that he scanned a $1.50 coupon for me.) I also got the $4.50 milk coupon. A great deal!! Thanks!

It depends on where you are, some of the Safeway stores will only double up to $1 (so $1 does not double and $.75 off “doubles” to $1, not 1.50 off. ) and around here if you have more than one of the same coupon only the first one “doubles”–still a decent deal, but be sure you know what they do in your area.

Thanks, Celeste! That helps a lot. That’s how Kroger is around here – some stores only double $0.50 or lower, but in Central OH they double $0.99 or less.

When I printed the coupons they say not subject to doubling?

I’ve never had my Safeway double my coupons. Is this a policy they have?

Hillary, they should still double unless the store chooses to override it which doesn’t happen very often.

Lori, it sounds like it varies by store, but even $3.75 for 3 boxes of cereal and $4.50 in milk is a pretty good deal!
