Thank you for offering this. Shopping at the commissary is one of the best ways for me to save on groceries.
Carole
Thanks for posting this! I do my regular shopping at the commissary and it’s always the best deal for us, especially since I started couponing!
Mary Middleton
I can’t find the Libby’s coupon? Where on the page can it be found? THANKS!
Heike B
Now this is really cool! This posting just put you over the top! I’ve loved your site anyways but this just tops it above all. My husband is retired AF so we live a little over an hour away from the closest commissary, knowing ahead of time what’s on sale makes my trip there even more worth while this way I won’t miss any deals. Thank you so much, keep up the great work!
Beth
Sorry everybody, it appears that the Libby’s coupon is no longer available! It was on the bottom left corner of the website when I put the match ups together, but has apparently reached its print limit.
Maura
Thank you for posting this! Love love love the commissary!
Kelsey
Thank you so much for posting this! The commissary is where I go for almost all of my groceries!
Dagmara Sailer
Thank you so much.I always shop at the comissary. I thought it couldn’t get any cheaper but than I found your blog. With the coupons and deals from your blog shopping at the comissary doesn’t hurt my wallet.
Hilary L
Part of the agreement of having the privilege of being able to shop at the military commissary is the fact that we are not allowed to being the prices we pay outside the commissary. I read this while looking up their coupon policy. So whoever it is that is posting these prices online may well lost their right to shop at the commissary forever. Do you seriously want to take that chance? You’re just teasing the civilian population with something that we are entitled to as part of our military benefits package. Why tell everyone about something they can’t have. I’m not trying to cause a problem but please be careful. If you seriously want to know what sales are going on they are posted on the commissary website that you can log into.
Elizabeth
Hilary, with the typos, I’m not sure what you’re saying in your post. Are you saying that the prices for items at the commissary can not be posted online? Do you have a reference for this? Thanks!
Shopping at the commissary is one of my favorite benefits of being a military wife!
jenny
Thanks for all the hard work It help my pocket book a lot
Jenni
My husband is a glorified “janitor” at our local Barracks that has a commissary that he cleans. He cannot shop there since he is not considered a military employee, but rather a federal employee, but he sees the deals there. I personally am not “teased” by the prices, because with the local grocery stores we have and with coupons and doublers and match-ups, I usually get just as good of a deal anyways! I’ve never heard of you not being allowed to tell the “outsiders” of the prices inside of the commissary. And depending on what part of the country you live in, the commissary may not be any cheaper than your stores prices, anyways.
The commissary, from what my husband understands, takes the average price of an item from across the nation and takes the median price and that’s what they change… that’s what the worker at the commissary has stated anyways.
I’ll have to have him ask if not speaking of the sales is the custom to not risk your privileges. I find that very odd to say the least.
Jenni
Elizabeth,
I do not have any proof of this, but after posting my “rant” directly above this post, I asked my janitor husband about this policy regarding the commissary.
Apparently, much to my disbelief, he has confirmed that speaking of the deals to be found at the commissary is prohibited, and if I complained as a bitter outsider who may not shop there that he “teased” me with the deals, he could lose his job! I can’t believe it!
So I guess it’s not a far cry to expect to possibly lose your shopping privileges if one could lose their job… Of course one would have to complain about the issue, and then the garrison commander would have to find the time to scold you and suspend or terminate your privileges.
Tara Kuczykowski
Thanks for the feedback, everyone. Beth is contacting them for an official answer, but this FAQ on their site seems to indicate it’s okay since DeCA is not paying to advertise here on DSM.
“Armed forces regulations prohibit direct advertising paid for by commissaries…You might see advertisements in base newspapers, receive mailings or hear radio ads purchased by various grocery industry partners, and these might list prices. No government dollars are involved, however, and there are no restrictions on how private business spends its advertising dollars.”
https://www.commissaries.com/documents/contact_deca/faqs/advertising_prices.cfm
Heather
Tara, PLEASE remind your commissary using readers that they are entitled to the FULL amount of a coupon when they use them at the commissary. As a commissary user, I’ve had to pull out my policy more than once, but I’ve never lost a fight yet! :)
Because the prices are already so low at the commissary, there are frequently times when a coupon has overage and we are allowed to use the full amount to offset the price of our other groceries… a little known fact for some commissary users!
Susan
I post commissary deals on my site and follow them on twitter. They have linked to my commissary match-ups and never said anything about that not being aloud. They actually said they liked the list!
I am interested to hear what Beth finds out.
Elizabeth
Also only saw the information about advertising. Perhaps this “rule” about the pricing only applies to employees? I’ve never heard such a thing.
Either way, there is also a great coupon on coupons.com and smartsource for $1 off any flavor YoPlus or YoPlus Light yogurt for $1. They cost less than that at the commissary, making this coupon a money maker.
Smartsource also has a coupon for $1.25 off Marcal Small Steps napkins, these are slightly more than that at our commissary, making for some cheap napkins!
jenniferfox
Thank you so much for including the commissary. What a nice surprise this morning!! This will help my family save even more money.
Kelsey
I have a hard time believing that you aren’t allowed to post commissary prices online. There are actual coupon forums that have their own commissary sections that do this every day. Those ladies are sticklers for the rules and I am POSITIVE they wouldn’t do this if it were a real rule. I’m curious to see what DECA has to say ;)
Mary
I noticed the same thing about the yogurt today. I am going to stock up tomorrow. My girls LOVE yogurt!
Also, the commissary is having 50% off “outside” prices on Marcal products right now — I saw this in the weekly ad.
jenny
keep posting all the good deals it saves me time and money , If Hilary doesn’t agree with this site she can always skip it, less stree and just keep shopping with no knowledge of whats on sale the Commisary site has the same stuff listed except not saying which coupons to use. They need our business to keep the wheel turning. Happy shopping and saving D/W who uses all the tools that are out there. Thanks again for your time
christina
Im listening to the complaing about the Commissary crap and Im very surprised!! WOW!! I was at NAB little creek yesterday where I do my shopping as we area ctive duty and the cashier notified me they are going to opening the commisary up to the general public because funds are so low….Whats the difference!!!!
Debbie
Thank you for everything you do. I dont understand why people think they have to be the commisary or blog police. If you have a problem with something posted on someones blog why cant you just email them personaly. Why bash them in front of others when they are only taking their time out to help us.
