Kmart is doubling coupons again this week at select locations; however, they seem to be pretty disorganized this go around. According to the information Cherry Picker received, Columbus stores are participating.
However, my ad has no mention of the promotion. Others are reporting that their ad says they’re only doubling up to $0.75 but that Kmart has said this is a misprint and they should double up to $2. So I’d highly suggest that you call your store to get the full details before making a trip so you can be prepared.
Tips for organizing your shopping trip:
- Leave the kids at home so you’re not distracted.
- Keep your transaction small. Plan to buy all of the items you have coupons for together.
- Compile a running list of the prices as you’re shopping.
- Watch carefully as coupons are scanned to make sure they’re doubled/tripled correctly.
- Check your receipt when you get to your car. Any adjustments can be made much more easily now than later.

I also read what The Cherry Picker had last week, so I called my Kmart (Tallmadge, OH) this morning to confirm. I could almost see the “deer in the headlight” look in the womans face that spoke to me. She said they were doubling up to .75 (despite the email that Cherry Picker referred to) and they were taking internet coupons.
FWIW, my Kmart doubled ALL my internet coupons last week when they had the promotion going.
I think I will just stop by my store tomorrow and check out what is going on. .75 isn’t that big of deal when GE will double to .99 and Kmarts prices are generally through the roof on most things.

I personally did not go to Kmart today, but several friends reported back about their trips at several different Kmart locations. A few were also met with the “only up to 75 cents. ” response from the personal when they gave higher valued coupons. They had the cashier try it and the coupons did doubled. Kmart store personnel seem to again be the last to know.
I am thinking word might get around by tomorrow.

At our local KMart, if an item is $1.99 and you have a $1 coupon, it doesn’t double because it won’t double over the price of the item. I’m not sure, but it seems it only took off the $1. , not the $1.99.

Camarillo, CA Kmart is doubling any coupon with a face value of .75 cents or less. If the coupon is .76 cents it doesn’t double.

Zanesvillle, Ohio Kmart is doubling coupons up to $2.00 face value. They just found out this morning (Sunday) and said they wish they had known earlier so they could have stocked their shelves since they had the same double coupon deal 2 weeks ago. I think that I have almost depleted by good deal coupons. LOL

All 3 Kmarts in the Torrance, CA area are doubling up to $2.00 coupons. No, the employees did not know anything about it. I had to buy one item with $1.00 coupon and one item with the $2.00 coupon to see if they double and they did. Also you have to watch them very closely. Some employees like to hurry thru the coupons and do them as fast as they can. At least twice now they told me the computer will catch up but it doesn’t and you lose.

This go around, I am nearly out of good deal coupons though! Hopefully I will find something (our newspaper doesn’t get the good coupons either, so that can be tough!!)

Maria, Do you know if we were to buy the Star Tribune here if it includes the coupon inserts? I tried 4 gas stations on my side of town and the only one that sells the tribune is Petro, but they were out by the time I ventured out. I get the Forum, but like you said, the coupons suck.

So if you have a 2.00 Q, does it double to 4.00, or does it mean you can only double up to 2.00 ( a 1.00 Q would be 2.00 for instance)?
This is of course saying that my Kmart will even double that high given the lack of consistency.

At the Fargo ND store there were coupon books located in several location in the store for “over $75 in coupon savings inside”. There were a few that were good at Kmart only, but most were good anywhere. Most expire the end of May, a couple for longer, and a few expire 5-5-09… They were for Dove and Caress which aren’t rare coupons. I found them in a couple spots in the dog treats area hanging on the shelves at about 4′.

Well I jsut found out how to get the coupon code. I had to make several calls to Kmart and then they directed me elsewhere but finally came thru from the Catalinas rep. Is it usually that hard to get your free movie Passes?

I emailed Kmart corp. this morning after I called my North Canton, OH Kmart and was told that they are only doubling to 75 cents. Miguel G kindly responding saying. “The North Canton K-mart will double coupons up to $2.00 with a 25 coupon limit per person per day.” I hope he called and told them. I’ll try shopping tomorrow morning.

Bummer. :( I should have heeded your advice about calling first. I just went and spent an hour, and used a TON of coupons.. only to find out that they were not doubled. Still saved a chunk of money, but not as much as I had planned. I did call afterward and found out that my store was not participating, but a little too late.
