iPod Touch Giveaway: XtraXtra, Check It Out

June 8, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

win-a-16gb-ipod-touchCheck out a cool new site and you could be the lucky winner of a 16GB iPod Touch (ARV $299)!

Xtraxtra.com is your digital resource for news and milestones in your hometown and community. Just like your local newspaper, xtra xtra features the following milestones from locations across the U.S.:

birth, adoption, death, wedding, engagement, anniversary, birthday, academic, athletic, military, professional announcements, events, and photos.

But what sets the site apart is that all features are fully searchable making it easy to find the specific information you’re seeking! Registration isn’t necessary to use the site, but you get some great additional features when you register like the ability to send ecards and upload an unlimited number of milestones to keep your family and friends informed about your announcements.

You can even add an RSS feed for your location to your feed reader to stay on top of new milestones with ease!

Xtraxtra.com would love it if you’d give their site a little test drive. In exchange, you can earn entries for a chance to win a 16GB iPod Touch. What a fantastic way to put all that free music we’ve been finding lately to good use!

I think this is a cool idea. I don’t know why, but using my city and state didn’t work, but just using my zip i found things for my city.
I saw one military event for my area, and the rest were all obituaries, I would have like to see more good news, like birth announcements, or weddings, etc…I guess I will have to add some events!

I found the site very easy to navigate, though one problem I had was when I just typed in my zip code, no milestones appeared — only when I typed in my city and state did they come up. It would also be great if the milestone listings could have thumbnails of the accompanying photos (instead of just seeing the photos when clicking on the full milestone page). I liked that the page for my city also included helpful info, like the weather forecast and links to local news stories. Thanks for introducing me to the site – and for this giveaway!

What a great website! It’s cute and informative. It is also super accurate to my small town, which is surprising! As a college student, I really like how you can look at a specific college page for news. Thanks for telling me all about it! :D

I have been subscriber to Deal Seeking Mom on my Google Reader for a month or so now, it’s been a great resource to help my mom out with paying for the large amount of items my six person family needs. Thank you, again, for such an amazingly helpful website.

I looked at the site, checked out what was reported for my zip, but couldn’t find any faq’s. Does it cost anything to post your events on this site?

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
