Incentives to Vote: FREE Starbucks, Krispy Kreme and Ben & Jerry’s

Just the freedom to vote is incentive enough for me (I already voted early on Friday), but a little added bonus for taking advantage of it is a nice perk.  Companies across the country are offering treats to customers that vote on Election Day.

These stores are offering incentives to voters on Tuesday, November 4th:

  • Starbucks – Get a free tall 12-oz. cup of brewed coffee.  Limit one per customer.  If you live in an area that does not provide proof of voting, stores will operate on the honor system.
  • Krispy Kreme – Get a free star-shaped donut with red, white, and blue sprinkles when you show them your “I voted” sticker. Participating stores only, so you may want to call ahead.
  • Ben & Jerry’s – Get a free scoop of ice cream from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Limit one per customer.

Whether or not you choose to partake in the goodies listed above, I hope all of my readers exercise their right to vote!

If this doesn’t get people to the polls, what will?

Any idea how they would deal with absentee voters? I promise I sent mine in on Friday!

I did the same, Jen. I know that Starbucks stated they are going by the honor system, and I’m assuming the others will follow suit, especially in the states that are doing the early voting. I’m sure people that voted at the beginning of October no longer have their stickers, LOL!

Shane’s Rib Shack is also offering 3 free chicken strips for voters today. We’ve been planning that as tonight’s dinner ever since my husband found out about it last week. :-)

Not that I dont’ think it’s very cool of companies to do this, but isn’t it illegal in the US to offer this for voters only? Doesn’t this fall under the category of incentivizing voting? Seems to me that even if you didn’t vote, (which I don’t recommend) that you should still get your freebies.

I’m fairly sure there are at least a few states that would consider this illegal, Steve. My guess is that these places will not be at all strict with the promotions. It’s more for publicity and fun, so I’m game! :)
