Family Movie Time Giveaway: Three Holiday DVDs from ABC Home Movies

December 11, 2008 by Tara Kuczykowski

snowglobesnowholidayinhandcuffs

Deal Seeking Mom and ABC Home Video are partnering to give five of my wonderful readers a prize package consisting of three family holiday DVDs.
Throw in a little hot cocoa and homemade Christmas cookies and you’ll have the makings of a fun family movie night!

Included in the prize package are:

  • Snowglobe – a charming Christmas tale starring Tom Cavanagh and Ashley Williams that will delight the entire family with a sleigh-full of reindeer antics! When Nick Claus’ baby reindeer is stolen, he travels to California’s renowned San Diego Zoo to rescue it – only to find true love in the process!

  • Snow – Christina Milian takes center stage in Snowglobe and “shakes things up” in this delightful seasonal tale. The holiday magic comes alive when Angela, played by Christina Milian, inherits her grandmother’s antique snow globe and finds she is able to leave her dreary, ordinary existence and travel to the idyllic Christmas-y world inside the wondrous globe!

  • Holiday in Handcuffs – an original movie about a ne’er-do-well 30-something who attempts to appease her family by kidnapping an attractive boyfriend to bring home for Christmas!  Despite the unlikely odds, the two share a “merry” special holiday…and manage to fall in love!

If you’d like to win this fun holiday movie pack, just leave a comment telling me what your all-time favorite Christmas cookie is! I know – that’s a tough one, isn’t it?

Methods of entry:

1. Leave a comment – Share with us what your favorite all-time favorite Christmas cookie is.

2. Share your favorite cookie recipe – Of course we’re going to want to know how we can make all these fabulous cookies for ourselves, so either leave the recipe in a separate comment or blog the recipe and come back and leave the link in a separate comment.

Prize:
(5) ABC Home Holiday DVD 3-pks.

This giveaway ends at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Saturday, December 13th.  I’ll use Random.org to select the winning comment.  The winner will be posted on Sunday, December 14th. Good luck!

While you’re in a contest entering mood, don’t forget to check out the Giveaway Gathering for a variety of contests being hosted on Deal Seeking Mom readers’ blogs!

My favorite is crispy sugar cookies with frosting. My recipe? Oh, you are going to either be delighted or disappointed…Pillsbury Ready-to-Bake dough. I consider myself an outstanding from-scratch cook, but I never have enjoyed baking much! Plus, I like being able to bake a few at a time.

My favorite holiday or anytime of the year cookie is peanut butter. I don’t make cookies with any chocolate because believe it or not, one of my kids doesn’t like chocolate!

My grandmother always made us “Christmas wreaths” cookies. Basically, they’re rice krispie treats but made with corn flakes and green food coloring. Here’s the basic recipe:

1 bag of marshmellows (the mini-marshmellows melt faster)
6 cups of corn flakes (make sure they’re fresh and not the ones that Dad won’t even eat)
2 tablespoons butter or margarine (butter tastes better)
1 teaspoon vanilla (optional but they taste better if you use it)
    Green food coloring
    Red hots candies.

Lay out some wax paper on the counter and a small bowl of water.

Melt the butter and marshmellows over medium heat stirring constantly.
When everything is just melted, remove from heat and stir in vanilla and food coloring. More food coloring makes the cookies look better but also is more likely to turn your teeth and tongue green.
Stir in the corn flakes until evenly coated.
Working quickly, drop lumps of marshmellow covered corn flakes onto the wax paper.
With wet hands (so that the corn flakes don’t stick to your hands), shape the lumps into wreaths (donuts, tauri, circles with holes in the middle).
    Garnish with red hot candies.
    Marvel at your work.
Enjoy the nostalgia if you’re part of my family.
Feed to small children and watch them have fun showing each other their green teeth and tongues.

My favorite Christmas cookie is either those green wreaths or divinity (which is more of a candy. I hope that still counts.) My other grandmother always made divinity at Christmas time. We have her recipe but have had a hard to recreating it. I think the difference is that she lived in Wisconsin where it’s very dry in the winter) and we now do Christmas in Atlanta – much more humid. Divinity apparently must be made on days of low humidity.

My new favorite Gluten Free Cookie is actually a cookie bar my son and we had this week at a Holiday Family Gathering. It is made with
the Namaste Blond Cookie Mix and a bag of Nestle Butterscotch Swirls
Chips in a 9 x 13 Bar Pan. It is so good that even those who eat Wheat
were drooling. I have been gluten free for 27 years, my parents, my siblings (all but l) my bio children 5 of 6 all have to eat gluten free.
