Dream Giveaway: $50 Home Depot Gift Card

January 26, 2009 by Tara Kuczykowski

dream-gift-cardRaise your hand if you love The Home Depot!

Thought so – I mean, what’s not to love? I get inspired to do some sort of household project just walking through their doors.

Here’s another bit of inspiration on a more serious note.

Through Feb. 28, The Home Depot is offering a commemorative “Dream” gift card celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. When consumers purchase the collector’s edition “Dream” gift card, The Home Depot will donate five percent of all sales to the Center for Civil and Human Rights, up to $1 million dollars. The donation will assist in the building of a permanent exhibition home for his personal writings and papers.

The collection of original documents by Dr. King includes more than 10,000 items, among them 7,000 handwritten notes spanning from 1946 to 1968. They include drafts of his “I Have a Dream” speech, his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” other theological writings and his Nobel Peace Prize addresses. The King Papers will be part of the exhibition offering of The Center for Civil and Human Rights. The Dream cards can be purchased at any store, or online at homedepot.com/dream.

Talk about amazing and inspiring, huh?

I have one of these commemorative gift cards loaded with $50 to spend at The Home Depot to give away to one Deal Seeking Mom reader!

To enter leave a comment telling me what inspires you. It can be an event, a person, a speech – you name it.

Trying to choose is very hard. My mother, who works 2 full time jobs just to be able to retire early and enjoy being a grandmother. My son, who grows in so many ways every day and makes life fun. My bestfriend, who is a single mother of 6 and is amazing! I only wish to be half the mother she is.

My family inspires me. I know nothing more in this life than the love I have for them and watching them each on their own separate journey’s in life. When I see life through their eyes I am awakened to the new and the possible. I am aware of the roll I have played in their lives, the example I have set. Each of their victories and their lessons inspires me on, to be the best mom and wife I can be for them. They are my life, my laughter, my love.

Well, since you’re giving away a Home Depot gift card, I’ll share what inspires me to decorate my home! I love shopping at antique stores or even garage sales for good deals and classic, sturdy items that I can transform into decor that fits into my home. I love to refinish furniture, paint, and sew. Thanks!

When I think about what inspires me all I have to do is think about my deceased parents and the things that they imparted to me such as values, scruples and fullfilling obligations and committments.

I’m inspired by selfless people, people who volunteer and do what they can to help other people, not to get something in return but just because they want to.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
