Raise your hand if you love The Home Depot!
Thought so – I mean, what’s not to love? I get inspired to do some sort of household project just walking through their doors.
Here’s another bit of inspiration on a more serious note.
Through Feb. 28, The Home Depot is offering a commemorative “Dream” gift card celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. When consumers purchase the collector’s edition “Dream” gift card, The Home Depot will donate five percent of all sales to the Center for Civil and Human Rights, up to $1 million dollars. The donation will assist in the building of a permanent exhibition home for his personal writings and papers.
The collection of original documents by Dr. King includes more than 10,000 items, among them 7,000 handwritten notes spanning from 1946 to 1968. They include drafts of his “I Have a Dream” speech, his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” other theological writings and his Nobel Peace Prize addresses. The King Papers will be part of the exhibition offering of The Center for Civil and Human Rights. The Dream cards can be purchased at any store, or online at homedepot.com/dream.
Talk about amazing and inspiring, huh?

I am inspired by beautiful things, in nature and in my home. I love beautiful fabrics, and dreaming up things to make out of them. I am also inspired by my two little girls, and love to make things for them!

My grandmother always inspired me. She was amazing, she took my family in when I was 18 months old and my parents divorced, she helped my dad raise us without ever asking for a thing until she died when I was 16 in a car accident. She was selfless and I’ve always been inspired by that.

What inspires me? Gosh, what doesn’t inspire me? I’m a theatre professor and stress daily to my students that as artist we must look around and really appreciate that which is around us. And of course, my students inspire me.
I live in the mountains… and I have to say the incredible sights here in Colorado are pretty inspiring… And I love my kitchen. It’s great for inspiring my baking side.

I am always inspired by people who are able to genuinely smile despite being in pain or enduring difficult times.
I remember visiting my grandmother in rehab after she had been hospitalized for pneumonia. As one will do, I asked, “How are you feeling?” She smiled her big toothy smile and said, “Oh, fat and sassy, fat and sassy!” She was far from fat or even healthy but she was indeed sassy.
One of my favorite quotes is from Beverly Sills. It expresses what I am talking about perfectly.
“A happy woman is one who has no cares at all; a cheerful woman is one who has cares but doesn’t let them get her down.”

I’m inspired by my warm, caring, affectionate teenage son who was born with a disability. He overcomes so much on a daily basis, yet he always wears a smile. He’s the first to lend a helping hand or pay someone a compliment. He inspires me to not think about what’s wrong, but celebrate what’s right.
Thanks for the chance

my husband inspires me…he witnessed his daddy killed when he was 8, lost his best friend in college to a sudden death, lost his best friend after college in a car accident, lost his mom to cancer 3 years ago…and still, his faith is strong, he loves life and he has forgiven his daddy’s murderer and holds no grudge. He’s amazing.
