CVS Scenarios Week of 9/14/08

September 14, 2008 by Tara Kuczykowski 4 Comments

While the deals aren’t phenomenal this week, if you need free meds and cheap laundry detergent, be sure to make a CVS run! And don’t forget to stock up on Skippy PB. We go through this super fast, so this deal is just calling my name.

Transaction #1

BUY Excedrin Express Gels (20-ct.) at $3.99
BUY Aleve D Sinus & Cold or Sinus Headache at $3.99
BUY Purex at $2.99

USE $1/1 Aleve D printable or $1/1 Aleve printables
USE $0.50/1 Purex Laundry Detergent, exp. 10-31-08 (SS 8/10/08)

Out of Pocket $9.47 ($2.47* after the $7 ECBs from last week’s Transaction #3!)
ECBs earned $7.99
Not a moneymaker, but it’s a darn good deal after ECBs!

Transaction #2

BUY (6) Skippy Peanut Butter at 3/$5
BUY Purex at $2.99

USE $0.60/1 Skippy Peanut Butter Product, any 15 oz.+, exp. 11-9-08 (V 8/17/08)
USE $0.50/1 Purex Laundry Detergent, exp. 10-31-08 (SS 8/10/08)

Out of Pocket $8.89 ($0.90 after the $7.99 ECBs from Transaction #1!)
ECBs earned $4
Profit $3.10 on this transaction! (ECBs earned minus actual OOP)

Transaction #3

BUY Just for Men or Touch of Grey at $7.99

$2/1 Just for Men printable
Try Me Free Rebate printable

Out of Pocket $5.99 ($1.99 after the $4 ECBs from Transaction #2!)
ECBs earned $2
Break even as far as ECBs, but submit for a full MIR of $7.99!

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
So we don’t end up with much in actual ECBs this week, but be sure to come back next week, and I’ll show you how to roll over that $2 ECBs earned from Transaction #3 to get the most for you money!

Bonus CVS $5 Challenge Transaction

BUY (2) Purex at $2.99

USE (2) $0.50/1 Purex Laundry Detergent, exp. 10-31-08 (SS 8/10/08)

Out of Pocket $4.98
ECBs earned $2
Get some super cheap laundry detergent and then use this $2 ECBs towards Transaction #1 for even more savings!

Just FYI: I did the Aleve D deal this am and (at least in Ohio), it contains a controlled substance so you have to show your driver’s license, get it from the pharmacy, and sign a waiver. Remember to bring your license and don’t attempt this one if you’re in a hurry. (also, for those looking to do multiple deals, there’s a limit of three of these per person per day–federal law).

Hi there! You’ve got some awesome stuff here! I’m doing a new thing called Festival of Frees. It’s a compilation of everything you can get for free this week at any store. Feel free to stop by and leave a link to any ideas you have of stuff you can get for free.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT. Read more.
