I scanned my card at the little CVS machine today and got a coupon for $5 off $30 or more purchase, exp 7/31/09. Does anyone know if these $X/$XX coupons work before manufacturer coupons? Basically, can I buy $30 worth of items, use the $5 off coupon first to bring my total bill down to $25, and *then* use my manufacturer coupons? Or does the $30 silently imply after manufacturer coupons? Any advice or tip is appreciated – thanks!
On a side-note, both CVS and Walgreens have Vitamin shampoo and conditioner listed as BOGO in the circular. You can also find Try Me Free tags hanging on these bottles @ CVS. Buy one shampoo for $6.99 + $0.58 tax, get the conditioner free, and then submit your receipt + tag for a $6.99 rebate on the shampoo. In the end, it’s like paying just tax for both! I love these deals.

yes, present the xx/xx coupon before any manufacturer coupons and it works just fine.
