Consumer Recalls: Portable Electric Heaters + More

There have been several consumer recalls over the past couple of days that may affect Deal Seeking Mom readers. Please refer to the links included in each section for more details about the specific recalls:

Lasko Portable Electric Heaters

Lasko Products Inc., of West Chester, PA has issued a recall on Portable Electric Heaters because an electrical connection in the base of the unit can overheat causing it to melt and expose the electrical connection, posing a fire hazard to consumers.  For dimensions, descriptions and model numbers of the recalled heaters, go here.  The recalled heaters were sold at Sam’s Club, W.W. Grainger, Inc. and other retailers from late 2002 to 2004 for between $39 and approximately $80.

Consumers should stop using the heaters immediately and contact Lasko to receive a free replacement heater.  For additional information call Lasko anytime, toll free at 800-363-8044 or visit the firm’s website.

PD Sixty Portable Space Heaters

PD Sixty Distributor Inc., of Norcross GA has recalled about 3,000 Portable Space Heaters because they can overheat due to loose electrical connections, posing a fire hazard to consumers.  For a complete list of model numbers and descriptions, go here.  The recalled space heaters were sold at Hancock Fabrics stores nationwide and by America’s Sewing Machine Company of Augusta, GA through nationwide direct marketing from October 2008 through March 2009 for between $380 and $480.

Consumers should immediately stop using this portable heater and contact PD Sixty for a free replacement heater.  For more information, contact PD Sixty toll free at 866-367-4538 anytime or visit this website.

Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
