There have been several consumer recalls over the past couple of days that may affect Deal Seeking Mom readers. Please refer to the links included in each section for more details about the specific recalls:
Folding Step Stools
Kennedy International Inc., of Dayton, N.J. announced a voluntary recall of Folding Step Stools because the stools can break or collapse unexpectedly when in use, posing a fall hazard to consumers. This recall involves 9-inch and 13-inch Kennedy International folding step stools. The step stools are plastic and have a handle for carrying the stools when they are folded. The style number is 3575 for the 9-inch and 3576 for the 13-inch step stools. The style number is printed on a sticker on one of the legs of the stool. “Kennedy Home Collection” is also printed on a label on some of the stools. They were sold in the following colors: blue, green, gray, red, purple, pink, orange, turquoise, aqua, white, plum, orchid, emerald, sapphire, sangria, ocean, sage, fuchsia, lime and various color combinations. The affected step stools were sold at HomeGoods, Marshalls, TJ Maxx and other retailers nationwide from January 2010 through January 2012 for between $8 and $12.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled step stools and contact Kennedy International to receive a full refund. For additional information, contact Kennedy International toll-free at (855) 270-8301 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit the firm’s website.
Inflatable Pool Slides
Wal-Mart Stores Inc., of Bentonville, Ark. and Toys R Us Inc., of Wayne, NJ are announcing the recall of about 21,000 inflatable Banzai in-ground pool water slides. During use, the slide can deflate, allowing the user to hit the ground underneath the slide and become injured. The slide is also unstable and can topple over in both still and windy conditions and carries inadequate warnings and instructions. The recall involves Banzai in-ground pool water slides designed for use with in-ground pools. The vinyl slides have a blue base, yellow sliding mat and an arch going over the top of the slide. By connecting a hose to the top of the slide, water can be sprayed on its downward slope. The words ‘Banzai Splash’ are printed in a circular blue, orange and white logo, shaped like a wave on either side of the slide. The recalled slides, which were manufactured in China by Manley Toys, Ltd, were sold at Walmart and Toys R Us nationwide from January 2005 through June 2009 for about $250 and have the barcode number 2675315734 and model number 15734. Both the barcode and model number appear on the original packaging but are not on the actual slide.
Consumers should immediately stop using the product and return it to the nearest Walmart or Toys R Us for a full refund. Consumers can also cut the two safety warning notices out of the slide and just return that portion. For additional information from Walmart, call (800) 925-6278 between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s website. For additional information from Toys R Us, call (800) 869-7787 between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. ET Monday through Saturday and between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, or visit the firm’s website.

Thank you so much for the Folding Step Stools recall. I’d been bugging my husband to buy one & now I ‘m so glad he didn’t.
Lori
Thanks! I have one of these stools and I use it all the time. I think I bought mine about 6 months ago at Meijer.

I just returned one of those stools bc it broke! We have 3 of them in the house…
Lori
I have called twice now about the stools and all I get is a recording asking me to leave my contact information and they will get back to me within 24 hours. Still no response. Has anyone had luck contacting them?
Erica
I have called 3 times as well as e-mailed their customer service twice and still have not received an answer how to send back the product as well as receive the refund. The recording says they will e-mail instructions but nothing has come to my inbox or spam. We have 4 in our house as well as purchased a fifth for my mom. One of ours broke while my husband was standing on it. Right now very unimpressed by this Kennedy International If anyone has received the instructions, please post them. Thanks!!
Lori
Erica – I have done all those things as well, and no response! Very frustrating. Hope your husband wasn’t hurt!
Erica
Lori – I just e-mailed TJMaxx’s customer service to see if they have the instructions and letting them know my frustration with their vendor.
Thankfully, my skinny #140 hubby was not hurt (nowhere near the 300 weight limit of the product). :)
Lori
They finally called me back. The rep was very nice and said I am in the “first wave” of customers to contact them, so I will receive an email in 2-3 weeks with instructions to send the stool back (at their expense) and get a refund. Hope this helps everyone else! Just call and leave a message and you should eventually hear back from them :)
