What has me confused is whether or not you can use hard copy coupons in conjunction with these eCoupons. I tested it the other day and it worked perfectly, no beeps or anything. I even made sure to enter my club card number first so that if the coupons weren’t supposed to scan, they wouldn’t. Anyone know the sure-fire (haha cell-fire) answer to this?
When I tested it, the coupons from Shortcuts came off too. It seems to me if they didn’t want them used they wouldn’t allow you to add them both to your club card, or they wouldn’t release them in conjunction. I’d love to hear everyone else’s thoughts on this.

Julia, this is a great question. eCoupons and paper manufacturer coupons should not be used together. However, the problem is that there is no way to determine which coupon you want to use currently. Once an ecoupon is on your card, you can’t take it off, so this presents a problem if a really good paper coupon comes out. Until the ecoupon companies come up with a better way to load and choose coupons and prevent paper coupons from being used at the same time, consumers will sometimes be put in the situation of knowingly or unknowingly using both together.

Note that this does not apply to Upromise coupons. I inquired with them and was told that their program is different because the funds are being deposited in your college savings, so you can use a paper manufacturer coupon with a Upromise coupon.

That’s what I figured, you’d think though that they would work out these glitches BEFORE releasing an eCoupon program. Thanks for replying.

I’m still trying to figure out the hole cellfire thing. I’m not sure I understand it to well. I signed up, and tried to load grocery coupons, but all I was offered was coupons for movies, maybe my local stores aren’t participating?

I haven’t used cellfire yet but have been meaning to. Once the coupons are loaded I imagine it is quite easy to forget what is on there but in the instances you know you have one for, say hamburger helper, is it unethical to use the hard copy coupon as well even though it will be accepted?
