BIG Giveaway: $500 Walmart Gift Card Sponsored by Nickelodeon

December 2, 2008 by Tara Kuczykowski

Nickelodeon
I’ve hinted about it for days now, and finally here it is – your chance to win a $500 Walmart gift card!!!

walmart-500-gift-cardJust in time to make your holidays a little happier, Nickelodeon and Walmart have teamed up to offer this fabulous contest hosted by the Elevenmoms.

Yep, that’s right – each Elevenmom is giving away one $500 gift card on her blog, so you have 20 chances to win! Find details on the Elevenmoms site on how you can enter to win each one. Please note that you may only win once.

So who wants to add $500 to their holiday budget? You didn’t really think I was going to make this EASY for you, did you? You’re going to have to work a little bit for a prize this big.

In light of the tough economic times, this contest is all about discovering new ways to help each other save money. Yesterday I wrote a post detailing seven easy ways to cut at least $1 from your budget per day in the hopes that it would inspire you to participate in The One Dollar Give. I only just scratched the surface though, and I know that you all have some amazing tips to share as well.

So there you go – holiday-themed or not, I want you to share your best methods for cutting back by at least $1 a day!

Methods of Entry*

Every reader can submit up to three (3) different tips to enter this contest. Choose one each of any combination of method one, two, or three for up to a total of 3 entries!!!

YOU MUST LEAVE A TIP WITH EACH ENTRY. ENTRIES THAT DO NOT FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES BELOW WILL BE DELETED.

1. Leave a comment sharing your best money-saving tip to cut at least $1 a day out of your budget!

2. Subscribe to my feed via RSS or email and leave a separate comment letting me know you have done so along with another money-saving tip. If you’re already a subscriber, simply leave a separate comment letting me know you’re already subscribed along with another money-saving tip. Lovin’ my subscribers! You guys make this all possible.

3. Spread the word about this contest in some manner and come back and leave a link in a separate comment along with another money-saving tip. If you have a blog, you can blog about it. But if you don’t have a blog, you’re not at a disadvantage. You could review and Stumble it. You could Twitter it. You could post about it in a forum. Use your imagination!

*Please read the rules for entering and the timeline information carefully as this contest differs from the usual giveaways that I host.

It is important that you leave a separate comment for each type of entry because each comment is equal to one entry. Sorry to harp on this, but it really is that important to tally and select the winner easily, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me simplify the process!

Prize:
1 $500 Walmart Gift Card

This giveaway ends at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Monday, December 15th. The judges will select ten of their favorite entries to be highlighted on Deal Seeking Mom, and I’ll use Random.org to select the winning comment.  The winner will be posted on Tuesday, December 16th, and the prize will be mailed out on December 17th. Good luck!

While you’re in a contest entering mood, don’t forget to check out the Giveaway Gathering for a variety of contests being hosted on Deal Seeking Mom readers’ blogs!

Sorry about the previous, I forgot it had to be atleast $1 everyday.

Pack your lunch! It may not seem like a lot of money to get a $2 sandwich from the cafe close to your work, but that $2 adds up to be $40 a month and a whopping $480 a year, when you can make the sandwich at home for approx $.25!

I think it is easy to cut out money in your budget when you are addicted to Starbucks. Just eliminate one cup of coffee a day and you are on your way!

Everyone loves their coffee right? I can’t live without a delicious flavored coffee everyday! Until I added up what I was spending on my simple indulgence of a cup of Starbuck’s daily! Then it was about 2.50 for one cup, adding that up EVERYDAY it becomes much more costly!

I now make my own pot of coffee at home and I keep flavored creamer around! You can also get the syrups just like they use in starbucks for pretty cheap too. If you like cappuccino or espresso get a machine, sure they seem like a lot but when you calculate what you would save by having your own it looks a lot better!

My last money saving tip would be to carpool with your friends, you can take turns picking up te kids , you can have someone to stop you from spending too much at the mall, and you can have someone to talk to in that horrendous rush hour traffic. Or you could take the Bus, good for the environment and good for your wallet!

    I just subscribed!
My tip is planning our menus for the week around the Wednesday sale ads. It has cut out the impromptu trips to the store which we were buying on an impulse and/or cravings!

I try to only do laundry at the least expensive usage times. This is especially useful in the summer (I live in the south) when the a/c is running non-stop. It really helps to wait until late in the evening to do laundry.

My tip is to reduce the amount of meat you use in dishes and add in vegetables instead. It’s healthier and cheaper, and most of the time, it even tastes better.

I am a new subscriber! This is a great site. I have saved about $175 a month for this year when I consolidated my phone, cable bill, and internet service provider. I periodically shop around for new companies to see what their rates are. I was getting to a point where other than giving up cable I was unable to cut back on my utility bill.

I have replaced most of my light bulbs with the new energy efficient bulbs. My electric bill has significantly reduced. I especially love the fact that they last! I especially like that the spot lights way up high outside do not burn out for years!

I know this is high end, but driving a Prius can save you over a dollar a day in gas! I’m getting close to 44 MPG.

When grocery shopping, shop the perimeter of the store. The more expensive processed foods are in the middle.

    1) Have friends each rent a movie and have a popcorn movie party once a week at a friends house.

    2) Buy in bulk for a sale with coupons or two for one sale.

    3) Use plastic bags as trash liners.

Hey there — nice to meet you!

I'm Tara: mom of 5 teens/tweens and one 80-lb. Weimaraner, who fancies herself a lap dog. Born and raised in Ohio (GO BUCKS!!!), my fave things include cooking + baking, my JEEP Rubicon, the 4x4 beaches at OBX, and checking out the local craft beer scene...

As you can imagine, all of this puts a good dent in my monthly budget. So I've learned how to save on the things I NEED, so I can spend on the things I WANT.
